Perk Fulfillment Request

I haven't given up. Just taking a break. I've been actually playing instead of modding. It seems the way I was going to do it which would negate the need for multiple compatibility patches and what-not simply isn't going to work for some reason. I'll be getting back to it tomorrow probably.

@Daventry: I read your original post, you might be interested in my "of teachings and trainers" idea (second in my signature list). It is slightly similar to what you have requested, only my idea doesn't spefically concerns trainers or books but skill gain quests.

If you are interested, you could try to merge it with this.

First, I like that idea. I was also disappointed when I found out what they meant by teach me something.

Second, you can make your signature have text as a link like in mine (it looks a lot better) by typing "[url=" followed by the url you're linking to, followd by a close bracket which won't show up if I type it, but it's the matching bracket for [, followed by the text you want to appear, followed by "[/url", followed by a close bracket again.

Just letting you know I got it working. At least, mostly. I've only filled in and tested alchemy and only from the base game, but it's working. As it stands, it won't require any files except Skyrim and Update, but having any supported mods will make those work. I'm not saying it'll be ready today, but the stupidly high hurdle made up of glitching arrays is finally behind me. I finally figured a way around it without sacrificing my desire to not require multiple patches. It shouldn't take too long, though. Starting with only Alchemist filled in to test with, it only took about 10 minutes to fill in the rest of the skill. Hopefully how I've set it up to work with multiple mods will end up working. That part hasn't been tested at all. But it's definitely some solid progress.

EDIT: Base game is done and mostly tested (I made sure the first perks worked for all skills and double checked with help that all the numbers are right, so if one works, they all should). Now I just have to get the mod quests set up and tested. I have noticed one thing which will be a slight issue. Because I had to find a workaround for the arrays not behaving properly, my chosen method seems to have stumbled onto another issue, but this one is quite minor. When it first runs, it seems to fail to unlock the first perk of a few skills and to unlock a few higher perks. I say it's minor for two reasons. One, it fixes itself as soon as the affected skill is leveled up once (or more). Two, I haven't yet tested to see if it's merely the UI messing up. The perk might not actually be unlocked and is simply appearing unlocked. I'll start working on incorporating the mod you mentioned. I already have one of your listed mods ready (it only had three perks). Which file do you use for Skyrim Skills Redesigned? The main 1.2 file? Or a different one? I don't yet have a method for distinguishing between multiple files with the same name. It'll should be easy to do, but I want to actually ensure it's working first.

Thanks for the hint, and for the consideration.

I like the Idea Draconisking, But i think Xander should make the Perk Fulfillment Mod the Vanilla way, then later a Patch for Mods that Changes Perk Trees.

Thanks for the Signature Tip Xander :D

My idea doesn't include perk changements at all. It is supposed to add buff (with effects close to perks, I admit) but no actual perks. But even as a patch (would you really consider it) I would be more than happy. Anyways Xander, good luck with the mod.

Almost entirely working. I've gotten it working with both the mods you mentioned. Only problem now is that the more slots mod is messing things up for the other. I have to figure out a way to decide whether or not a mod should effect a skill. If I can manage to focus on it tomorrow, it should be done. I'd probably already be done, but my dad recruited me for most of the day to help him with some programming he was doing.

I don't think they would merge well. In addition to some technical issues that would probably be somewhat easy to overcome, I think it would be fair to say since mine completely changes how perks are handled, a lot of people that might want his wouldn't necessarily want mine. And a lot of people that want their perks unlocked automatically might not want it to come bundled with other changes.

Anyway, I'm hoping I can figure out how to solve the mod conflict problem. I think I know what's going on, but I'm not certain. If I'm right about how it's working, a simple solution might be possible.

Oh, hey, I needed to know something about what your enchanting tree looks like. I need confirmation it's consistently like what I'm getting. I have the extra effect 10 at the top, the perks aren't in their normal place but they're also not where Skyrim Skills Redesigned put them (you can see it in the picture on his page), and I have Frost and Storm enchanter (which SSR removed), but many perks are still renamed. Also, at enchanting 100 and plenty of points, I can't unlock the two in the middle, I only have one level for Enchanter (the first perk), and going up the right side does not allow me to unlock Extra Effect at the top. Finally, Next Enchanter requires level 40 instead of its vanilla 30 (it was originally Fire Enchanter, I think). In other words, my enchanting tree is almost completely unusable. I'm assuming you wouldn't use the two together if you didn't find a way to make them cooperate. What did you do to make them not destroy your tree?
