Hello, Vortex won't load past the startup logo. The hangs and there is no error message. It can only be closed using task manager.

  • I'm using Vortex ver 1.1.9.10 on Windows 10
  • Vortex was working fine
    • Installing mods for Skyrim SE
    • Was deploying mods
    • PC Crashed
    • After restart, Vortex won't load
  • Attempts to recover so far:
    • I have uninstalled and reinstalled Vortex
    • I have reinstalled VC redistributable
    • I have reinstalled .Net 6

Any help would be appreciated.

Edit:
in the appdata log, the application appears to be closing and reloading repeatedly. This block of text repeats every 10-30 seconds:

This issue is usually caused by something corrupting your Vortex state file.

Try renaming the %appdata%/Vortex folder to something else and see if the app starts up then.

The app started up. What do I do now to recover my old settings and everything?

Unfortunately, you can't recover anything easily. Your setup got broken to the point where it isn't recoverable. The only thing you can do is look in the renamed folder and copy across any folders except the "state" related ones.

In future, please make your own thread rather than bumping one that is almost 6 months old.
