I can't get vortex to run the game and connect to steam to get achievements

Anytime I boot up Baldur's Gate 3 through vortex and cant connect to steam for achievements or playing online

My friends asked me to download some mods onto vortex for BG3 and since I'm fairly new and using vortex they walked me through the process of installing the mod pack they had so we can all play together. After we got that I booted up my game and went to multiplayer only for it to say that i am not connected to the internet. since i couldn't find any online lobby's my friends sent me an invite to their lobby and i accepted it. the invite immediately booted up another instance of BG3 through steam and i couldn't play due to the game having mods. After a while of troubleshooting my mods, and steam, i tried running the game through vortex without any mods to see if that was the problem but it didn't fix anything. as a last ditch effort i ran the game through vortex and went to the multiplayer tab and tried to join my friends with a lobby code through "direct connect", and it worked, i was able to play modded with my friends. The problem is that i cant get any achievements (we have a mod for getting achievements with mods) and i cant open the steam overlay for quick access to join my friends.

Once you've installed the mods via Vortex you may be able to just open the game via Steam, which will enable achievements/etc.
