Vortex not re-generating staging folder file (1.9.12)

Hello,
The title is only called that because this is what I'm assuming the issue to be.

I am currently modding BG3 (Steam download) and have made use of the QoL&Extras collection(amazing list and really easy install with premium btw). The only issue I'm having is I had to move my staging folder from my (C:) to my (D:) - which messed everything up. I've done some research (both on this forum and Reddit) but every example I find here is of people moving their game THEN moving their staging folder. The fixes that worked for these people didn't work for me.

The suggested staging folder keeps going to my (C:) which doesn't have enough room. I think I must have at some point manually deleted the first staging folder - that's all that makes sense right? Why wouldn't Vortex move the staging folder file from the old place to the new place in (D:)? I don't recall doing that so I'm not convinced I'd be that dumb. I am SURE that this is an easy fix but I've been banging my head against the wall trying to solve this issue as I'm excited to give this collection a try.

I modded cyberpunk pretty easily with vortex months ago - and had all my BG3 mods working before I clean installed(bg3) to get this collection working.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for replying!
Yes, this is what my research into the topic gave me as well. The file in question is nowhere to be found. Even when I simply move the staging folder to an empty folder- it doesn't make that file there.

  • Solution

Just make a new text file and replace the name with __vortex_staging_folder (make sure you also remove the .txt extension).

You also need to make ABSOLUTELY SURE there's no folder with that name.
