You may have incompatible dlls that cause these issues. Can you help me read the log? I have no idea how to read it. I've had it happen in the past and it always means that something is wrong. Clearly this isn't new information for you, but, I would suggest uninstalling all your mods and starting over. First make sure the game runs without any mods. Then install a few mods, LOOT them, and see what happens. If everything is still ok, then try a few more. Wash, rinse, repeat. Hopefully that will allow you to figure out your problem. Thank you, will try that out
aufisch
Quote Also the load order doesn't seem to change, like it isn't working as if the program isn't doing it. I have the last version of everything, LOOT, SKSE, all mods, triple checked all of this. In LOOT: LOOT normally gives you an error message (somethin called a circular error) if it wasn't able to sort your mods. We would need to know what exactly it says. If you can't see any type of message, did you update your masterlist the first time before you sorted for the first time? And if yes, did you press the "Apply sorted load order" after LOOT had finished sorting your mods? There might be a similar named button from within Vortex. This is the first thing I would try right now. The crash log might point to your quest_journal.swf, which is strange, as I don't see a mod in your load order that would use it except for SkyUI, and SkyUI has its files in a bsa. If above step doesn't work (and only then as the error might resolve itself once you actually can sort your mods). Can you quickly check if you have a loose file version of this file in your installation-folder (within an folder called "interface" or in one of your mod folders?

Attached it in a file 2024-02-20-10-22-43.log 52.72 kB · 0 downloads Ok this is why you crash: po3_PapyrusExtender.dll v5.6.1.1. Papyrus Extender v5.6.1.1 is not compatible with your version. You need to download "Papyrus Extender v.5.6.2" instead. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/22854?tab=files See if this fixes your crashing issues.

AaronOfMpls
Adding a bit more: On 2/20/2024 at 9:18 AM, sattyre said: First make sure the game runs without any mods. A good idea in any case. But especially important if you use Mod Organizer: it keeps your mods in its own folder system outside your Skyrim install, and kinda tricks the game into thinking they're in your Data folder when they're enabled. So you can keep your real Data folder completely clean, and can easily add and remove mods without having to track down any loose files they might've left or overwritten. And you can use different profiles, with different mods enabled for different save files. (And MO profiles are especially useful for trying out new mods without messing up your existing setup. Just copy a profile and test the mod there first -- and only add it to the profiles you actually use once you're sure it'll work to your liking.) Yah, I've been building a new SE mod setup myself in Mod Organizer, and this is pretty much how I've been doing it. Add a few at a time, sort with LOOT [1], run a test character for a bit [2], then repeat the process with a few more mods. Though I've also been using mods -- and Mod Organizer -- with original/LE Skyrim since 2012. So I have a bit of a feel for where LOOT "should" be sorting some kinds of mods already. The Unofficial Patch and any .esm's get sorted near the top, right after the DLCs. Major UI overhauls like SkyUI and RaceMenu often come next. Larger .esp's full of places, NPCs, equipment, and quests largely come after, followed by smaller .esp's and .esl's. Small quality-of-life mods, and small mods that affect a lot of existing things without directly editing them [3] tend to come lower, with Alternate Start mods (like Alternate Start: Live Another Life, and other mods' plugins for it) near the bottom. Then a Bashed Patch (generated by Wrye Bash [4]) at the very bottom. And of course, LOOT finds exceptions to this rough rule as it tries to minimize mod conflicts. On 2/19/2024 at 2:07 AM, aufisch said: Also: Seasons of Skyrim is a fantastic mod, but I would not recommend it for a beginner, as it involves the installation and correct configuration of various mods and textures plus the correct creation of LOD with DynDOLOD. Indeed, I'm saving that for later myself, until I'm more familiar with SE itself and the rest of my mod setup. I want to make sure my game is reasonably stable to begin with before I start messing with such things. (Plus I'm still undecided about a few other things in my game, like which Winterhold ruins mod to use. [5]) [1] I'm using MO's "Sort" button, which uses a built-in version of LOOT. And I'm manually sorting the left pane in a broadly-similar order, that (hopefully) keeps the right sets of loose files after others. [2] Sometimes just in Alternate Start: Live Another Life's starting cell, sometimes beyond it. [3] Like Simply Knock (lets you knock on locked doors, for a chance to be let in if someone's home), or Timing is Everything (sets starting levels/conditions for major events and quest chains, via MCM options). [4] To merge together multiple mods' changes to some of the same things, like leveled item lists and specific NPCs' stats. [5] Do I use Winterhold - Expanded Ruins (which I had in LE), version 4 or version 2 of The Great City Of Winterhold (v4 looks amazing! -- but I'll need its patch collection too for other mods that touch WInterhold), or something else entirely?
