The Sex Balance in Diamond City - Let's face it, it's off (SOLVED)

That's too bad. DCE is very cool, and the Exopatch is what fixed it for me. This is a longshot, but did you make sure the PreVis pack is at the bottom of your load order? The main Exopatch should be right after DCE itself, with other DC mods after that, but the PreVis pack has to be after all of them.

Hmm, I am not sure. I am probably doing something wrong with the load order. Truth be told I am not really a power user with Vortex and mostly rely on auto loot.

I could create a new profile and transfer my save files over and experiment thereby taking out the risk if stuff gets ruined. I am really enjoying ym current new playthrough.

All the Diamond City Guards now have Select assault rifles, military fatigues, COmbat Armor Helmets and most even have some addtional leg armor. and withthe mod that doubles their number outside the wall they often guard or patrol in pairs .

The easiest way to get that PreVis pack to the bottom of your load order is to find the plugin in Vortex, double click it, and when menu slides in on the right, scroll down to the bottom and check the "Locked To Index" toggle. That'll put it at the very bottom (along with any others that also have that box checked).

What mod doubles up the DC guard patrols outside? I like the sound of it. I've been seriously considering making a mod that places DC guards on the far side of the stadium where they haven't been placed. It doesn't make much sense that such a large portion of the outer wall has no one watching over it.

This mods ups the total DC patrols outside to 21 (I counted including the troops in the entryway):

Diamond City More Security at Fallout 4 Nexus - Mods and community (nexusmods.com)

Then main entrance gets most of the extra but all areas do.

The apperance of these troops is 100% my doing via giving myself gear via console comands and then equippingit out to the DC security by opening up trade menu with each one via console command.

(Cursor on NPC, open up console commands via ~, left click ( remember not to inadvertently shoot!), then ~openactorcontainer 1   now you can freely exchange gear as if it was a settler you are equipping or unequipping.  Beofre you close trade window make sure they actually equip the gear via "T" command. Push tab to exit when you are done giving them the gear)

There is a mod that also ups the gear of the DC security a bit but it was all over the map not like my vision of a professional force of the kind that the wealthiest settlement in the wasteland could clearly afford to field.

Each gets a Select Assault rifle ( mod form neeher), military fatigues (for the 2 agility points from that garment, these NPCs may be level 20 and higher, but their SPECIAL in agility is only 1), and a Combat Armor helmet

This is the same way I outfit my basic Minutemen troops ( patrols that despawn soon anyway not included). The main diff is my Minutemen/settlers get a Minutemen hat in lieu of the Combat Armor helmet for that cool Militia look.

This is slightly off topic, but this comment reminded me of something I like to do in my game which you may also be able to do if you have Advanced Animation Framework (AAF) installed. When I see characters with generic names like Settler, Grown Adult, DC Guard or the like, I like to hit the home key and ENTER to trigger an AAF search of the nearby characters. I then hit ENTER and HOME again to exit AAF, but that brief search by AAF automatically gives unique and random names to generically names NPCs. It makes them into individuals rather than just generic classes of people.

Oh wow I did not know that.

I certainly do have AAF installed, Dago is always full of surprises.

Will this also make these NPCs unique and as such amenable to SLM changes?

Should I change the number that appears to lock it to the end?

When I do this it says "lock to index 29" but I have a couple hundred plug ins.?

Also Should I disable PRP for DC Expansion to work?

I tried before with and without but am unsure.

EDIT; I forked another profile, where DC Expansiona and its patch are active. I disabled PRP and Diamond City Ambiance and locked the pacth to index ( but did not chnage the number from 29)

The good news the Expansion "took" and the walkways in DC ahve not disappeared.

The bad news the tunnel back outside and for the first few steps inside has been completely nuked big white void spaces and floating stairs and as I aprraoch the outside even a view of the outside plaza beofre I enter the tunnelt to leave DC.

In a pinch I could tolerate this but I worry it would be a sign of ever-increasing instability.

I left the setting as they are for now, but reverted to an earlier save where i have not gone to DC in a while, since the expansion had been turned on, to await further advice on here.

I don't think it changes their customization capability, just their names. If you do end up going the FO4Edit/FaceRipper route, however, you can always give them unique appearances that way. This said, in my game, they're not clones of each other. I can generally tell them apart by their appearances (at last the ones in the Market), but yeah, I do think you're right that some of the generic ones walking around randomly might not have unique appearances.

UPDATE WITH SOLUTION

After trying to make DC expansion work including the patch using tips from here, I again nuked not just another save game, but playthrough. The problem was not limited to DC but entire city blocks outside of DC would disappear even on earlier saves of that profile.

The solution , after I returned to a recent fork profile (just 3 levels below my current playthrough and before i had visited a expansion DC) I redeleted DC expansion and all its associated files, deleted PRP and PRP patch, delted DC ambiance.

Replaced it with this:

Diamond City Plus at Fallout 4 Nexus - Mods and community (nexusmods.com)

It is roughly comparable in scope to DC expansion.

No red seat but a few other locations that added female NPCs. NPCs in general seemed 60% female. mod author states 35 NPCs added. I did not find that many ( but this prob means i jst havent found them yet)

What is especially nice, besides adding in a lot of females for balance, is that a great many of these females are "unique" coded. That means I could replace their looks with my various hottie presets, which I did. Gave them some very feminine clothing  from lazman 555( nothing that would get you arrested in 2024 USA, but very feminine regardless) and Voila the DC city picture is much improved.
