NIF files are not imported or uploaded to the Creation Kit.  The CK merely accesses them as it does with any other file type assigned to an object record.   That said, you've assigned the mesh to an object record and you're crashing when the render window or a preview window tries to display the object?  And if not, what steps are you doing that is leading up to the crash?

I, personally, cannot help you solve any potential issues with the mesh itself.  However, the answers to these questions may certainly help others to understand your issue and hopefully provide you with some insight.

Would definitely need to see the actual nif file, there's too many variables to try to guess what's wrong with it.

It would also help to know what program you used to create the nif file.

  • 1 month later...

export as skyrim standard edition from blender then the mesh should run fine on your special edition creation kit

all Skyrim LE assets work in SE but SE is an optimise game... you still need to convert to SE, generally speaking its a Direct X 9c to Direct X 11,  I am a coder, so do not ask me how that affects Nifs and Textures, but it does, mainly its is encoding, FYI compression issue

LOL dont laugh, Visual Studio supports DDS.. in 2017 I use it for textures upgrades...  LOL Skyrim is a Direct X game is it not?

EDIT That Visual Studio, NOT Visual Studio Code.. Its BIG brother, and the best tool for the job is one already installed in your PC

nope nifskope otto converts for me once I import from nif to nifscope then equip meshes and convert to BsFadeNode then import in to the kit and it's good to go.
