Bethesda isn't trying to fix anything.    They are just copy/paste and give it some eyecandy.

Sad thing is they have literally taken an entire chapter from the EA book with their Madden game.

The only difference is EA solicits "donations" in the Billions.

Again, sadly I agree ....

I'm still fighting just dumping FO 4 and Skyrim all together .. I've yet to re-install Skyrim and now wondering if it's worth the bother and annoyance .. just to have Beth SCREW IT ALL UP AGAIN!

I'm hanging onto Fallout 4 for now.

Skryim I haven't played since the whole SE/AE debacle.    Drove me away for so long waiting on mods to update I just left it.

I'm not sure that Bethesda is even in touch with it's player base anymore, they've gone full corporate mode.

Nonsense. Nothing has changed. With every single game update going all the way back to Morrowind, A bunch of armchair developers still pretend like they understand the nuances and obstacles faced by a hand full of programmers with hundreds of developers pressuring them to add this or change that. It's easy for you as an individual to claim what should or should not be but if you had to collaborate and compromise with over a hundred other people you would find the product you create far from your personal ideal. Which by the way is the whole point of providing us with this level of modding fidelity, so we can as individuals get the game closer to our own personal ideal. They haven't lost touch with that notion and in fact they have leaned in to it very hard because it is the source of most of their revenue.

I tried finding those MODS .. guess I will have to search harder.

If you happen to know the links, I would appreciate it .. 🙂

Thanks .. the READ ONLY, is a problem, in that I tried that and when I went to install new mods and such .. it created a problem of having to go through the process - to allow access.

Fallout 4 downgrader:

Fallout 4 Downgrader at Fallout 4 Nexus - Mods and community (nexusmods.com)

Here is how to prevent update:

I found a couple that make life easier for those who updated and to try the update.

NixGen - Disable Next Gen Update Content at Fallout 4 Nexus - Mods and community (nexusmods.com)

I have noticed that Steam no longer actually has an option to turn off automatic updates.

Right click Fallout 4 on your library, and select preferences, then select updates... and check the drop down menu.

The option to turn them off completely, is no longer there...

The only options you get are:

1. Always keep this game updated.

2. Only update when I launch the game.

3: High Priority Update - Keep this game updated before all others.

The second drop down relates to "background" downloads.. the ones that run while you're playing the game... and appears to have no effect on whether Steam performs "automatic updates" or not.

So they basically are just forcing these updates on it.

Steam made that change years ago

What you do is set to "update only when i launch game"

And then never use Steam to launch game, but only F4SE.

You probably already knew this so this is just in case.

Yep. That's what I did. Together with making the manifest file read-only. It's never going to update.

Not even if you launch steam and click the [update] button. (which replaces the [play] button)

Not until you make the manifest file writeable again.

I've been playing these games since Morrowind.   What I saw from the NPC's facial expressions in Starfield was literally copy-pasted from Morrowind.

When, after 20+ years of making "open world" games will they let us just climb a ladder?

Is it because almighty Todd doesn't think we need that?   Like not having any way to traverse the abyss in Starfield - except by foot?

Haven't played it have you? I got 600hrs in it. Are the animations great? No. But to compare them to Morrowind is disingenuous at best, especially after the last update vastly improved the facial lighting Yes you can climb ladders. Most of the major complaints are being addressed in the next update.

It's OK to disagree with their choices but being an NPC that ignores reality to facilitate your continued hatred of them...not so much.

The fact is they listen to us...well... not to you because your dishonest criticism is just white noise lost in a sea of entitled armchair developers.

It's little wonder why they closed the BGS forums and quite frankly why there are so few active people here anymore. Bethesda isn't killing this community, we are.

On the other hand, It's just human nature, we can't have anything nice because we don't appreciate sht until it's gone. Case in point, the rather large number of active users here that endlessly sht talk this site and it's personnel over it's choices. Do you actually think that after Robin closes this site that something else like it will pop up to fill the void? It is not going to happen again, it's a one time thing and that goes for Bethesda too. When Todd and Robin hang it up, that's it, it over.
