xkkmEl
I know this is a stupid bad-mod-in-my-load-order issue. I'm just at a loss finding what's wrong. It keeps going away and reappearing. Seemingly randomly when I add/remove mods and start a new game. Right now, I have two "Nord" races showing in racemenu: 1- the 1st has a stupidly large head, but normal looking skin for the body and head. 2- the second has a normal head, and normal body skin, but old wrinkly face and worse eyes. Looking in MO2 at my meshes/actors/character/character assets, and meshes/actors/character/female directories, nothing seems out of place. Looking in xEdit at the Skyrim.esm/Race records, I find just DefaultRace, NordRace, NordRaceAstrid, NordRaceChild and NordRaceVampire, none of which have changed field values (all yellow or white). Am I supposed to see two Nord races in racemenu? How do I track down the file/record responsible for this monstrosity?
scorrp10
More informative console Go into Racemenu, set yourself to be the first Nord race. Still in racemenu, open console, click on yourself, so it shows the info in top left. In there, mouse over the race, press Shift to open info about it. If the FormID does not start with 00, you can go into 'Form location Information' to see which esp that race is from. Or, if it does start with 00, you can still go into that category to see if any esp overrides Skyrim.esm for it. Do this for both Nord flavors. For example here, I got an alternate 'Nord DZ' race, which comes from 'COR_AllRace.esp' Also, consider checking if something overloads the vanilla head parts such as 'FemaleHeadNord' or 'MaleHeadNord'
scorrp10
P.S. just realized this is LE forum. Not sure if similar console mod exists for LE, but you could try Mfg Console
xkkmEl
Checking more closely, I see that my 1st nord race is from an adoptable children mod. One mystery solved. So I do have MfgConsole installed. It doesn't go into as much detail, but it does show the "last base change". MfgConsole showed that "karin_follower.esp" last changed the player's actor base, to change it's class to some dremora spellcasting class, instead of the normal spellsword class. Ah ah! So I go into xEdit to remove the inappropriate record, and... no change. Female nord players still come out old and wrinkly, with MfgConsole reporting no base change at all. No matter what race I choose in RaceMenu, the player base and reference stay the same. So somehow, it must be some mesh or texture that's at fault, right? But then, I'd see that same defect all over. I'm confused
xkkmEl
More checking... this time NordRace in xEdit. There was yet another stupid follower mod (cassie_follower, again by farodadestin) that had a useless change to the record... changing the hair color. Removing that record fixed the issue. Finally!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks scorrp10. Not that you had the solution ready, but that your reply got me to reconsider details I would not have pursued otherwise. Now, how does changing the hair color relate to wrinkly faces? There are still mysteries in this life.
AaronOfMpls
Glad you solved it! I was about to suggest checking the Nord race records, when you posted your solution. 5 minutes ago, xkkmEl said: Now, how does changing the hair color relate to wrinkly faces?
