Just upgraded my computer but .... Vortex issue.

Recommended Posts

Just upgraded ( replaced really) my computer with a new chip, graphics card, SSDs and RAM. (AMD 7800 X3d, RTX 4080 Super, 2 times 2T SSDs Samsung 990 Pro, 2x 32GB sticks of DDR5 RAM)

but the Store designated my new 2nd SSD the "D" drive when it copied my drives.

With program files being C drive of course.

But vortex on previous computer (both drives were cloned onto new SSDs) that drive was designated "G".

I get all sorts of error mesages form vortex, "uninstallation path error" when I start up vortex. But it works.

I ignored it and just kept playing ym game but now vortex wants to update and it says if I just computer off during update vortex may stop working BUT Vortex is unable to uninstall the old copy.

Β

I tried to rename my drive to D drive by right clicking on the name but no luck.

Is there a "trick" renaming a drives location?

Or maybe I could simple find a place in Vortex to change its uninstall path to D?

if so where might it be?

Glad ya got it fixed. πŸ˜„

For future reference though, if you want to change a drive letter, need to use Disk Management for that. Keep in mind, changing that letter can have some undesirable results..... πŸ˜„ Path not found error messages being right there at the top of the list. :D
