LeftistInternetGoblin
I recently decided to reinstall FNV and start a modded playthrough, and everything was going great up until today. The game ran fine on ultra settings with no issues; the framerate remained high and stable, and there was no ticking/stuttering to be found. Then today, I remembered that I hadn't installed any mods that open up the Strip, so I decided to download and install Simple Open Strip (https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/73127) and the associated patch for Desert Natural Weathers (https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/83335), which I also use. This turned out to be a mistake, as I read that the mod came with numerous bugs and was not compatible with NMC's Textures (https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/43135) and their LOD replacer (https://www.nexusmods.com/newvegas/mods/67649). So, I deleted the Open Strip mods (archive included), then turned Archive Invalidation off and back on. Since said mod requires a new game to work after installing or uninstalling, I deleted my old saves then started a new game and finished character creation. I immediately experienced severe frame drops, with the game running around 20fps compared to around 60 prior to installing and uninstalling these mods. Thinking it might be an archive issue, I turned Archive Invalidation on and off in Vortex (I understand that using Vortex to mod FNV is considered taboo, but I have not had any issues with it thus far and it's the most convenient for me), to no avail. I then purged and redeployed my mods in Vortex, making a few adjustments to load order to see if that would have an effect. Nada. I checked my files for anything that might be left over, and sure enough, I found that the LOD files from Simple Open Strip had not been deleted. I went in and deleted them manually, then deleted and reinstalled the NMC LOD mod to make sure it wasn't causing problems, repeating the previous steps afterwards. Again, no effect. I also saw that a few mods I had installed, namely JohnnyGuitar xNVSE and Titans of the New West, needed an update, so I tried that with no success either. The frame drops have persisted, and are even worse on starting a new game: straight out of the opening cinematic I get about 5-10fps without fail, and nothing I have done has changed that. Is there anything I can do besides uninstalling and reinstalling the game and all my mods? If it would help, I can post the load order for my plugins and the deploy order for my mods in Vortex. LeftistInternetGoblin
Okay, so this issue was fixed by restarting my PC and relaunching the game. I'm not sure if this is a known bug with any particular mod or the game itself, but it works now. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
JimboUK
A lot of performance issues are fixed with a quick restart, it's worth doing anyway if the PC has been running for a while.
laclongquan
Yeah, especially when you think you have the rig for your 200+ load order list, but, you know, you dont have that rig~ Anyway, people advise agaisnt Vortex + FNV for a very good reason and very long history. You just wait until Vortex problem start hounding you~
