SirTennant
Hello, I was trying to use a preset in my new playthrough. I have a clean install of Fallout 4, I installed some mods, and I was mainly following The Midnight Ride guide, so for the first time I decided to switch over from Vortex to MO2. So far MO2 hasn't been that bad, but I can't seem to make Presets work? As you probably know, MO2 puts the files in a different location and not directly into Fallout 4/Data/etc... and I'm wondering if that's the issue of my presets not working. However, I tried putting them in the regular location as well and they still don't show up. When I open the looksmenu the entire "Presets" menu is greyed out. I'm entering looksmenu via console using "slm 14" - I use the LooksMenu and Looks Menu Customization Compendium I have the mods required by the preset This is the path when I installed the preset via MO2 C:\Modding\The Midnight Ride\mods\Ciri original\F4SE\Plugins\F4EE\Presets\.json file But even when I try to put it in the Fallout 4 folder, it doesn't show up. C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout 4\Data\F4SE\Plugins\F4EE\Presets\.json file The presets should be working, at the very least they are highly popular on nexusmods... I'm using the downgraded version of Fallout - 1.10.163.0 and I'm launching the game via the correct F4SE I should also note that I've tried multiple presets and none show up. Also before anyone tells me to just use Vortex, I switched from Vortex to MO2 because I couldn't run Fallout 4 via Vortex at all after the downgrade. Not even through F4SE. The game would just crash immediately. The only way I got it working was through MO2. I'd love to use Vortex but I can't seem to get it working with the downgrade. For a while it worked, but only through the F4SE loader and then Steam didn't register me playing the game. And while some people wouldn't care, I'd like for Steam to track my playtime and also I'd like to get achievements, so that was a no-go for me. Then I switched to MO2 and now I can only launch the game via MO2, no other way works lmao, as I said it doesn't even work when I try to launch it through F4SE outside of MO2 I'd really appreciate any help! 363rdChemicalCompany
Sometimes the presets simply wont show up for whatever reason. Maybe the file path was incorrectly packed by the author for a mod manager download, or the plug-in failed to enable. Solution: Download your presets Manually, and then after unzipping take the .json file and put it in your presets folder by "hand". Check the attachment for the path in a steam install. Using F4SE dependent mods means that the game has to be started through the f4se_launcher. Otherwise these mods won't work. Looksmenu is one of them. This is independent from using a mod manager or not. Steam will still count your playtime. Achievements are a different story as soon as your game is recognized as modded. What you describe is the problem user had when using the next-gen update and tried to use Looksmenu before it was updated. If you started FO4 through it's exe Steam would normally update your game again. You have to make certain settings to block this and start the game through the f4se_launcher. Who knows, perhaps your game is updated again. If not F4SE and Looksmenu have to match the pre next-gen version of FO4 (1.10.163.0). I tried downloading the presets both through the manager and manually, the path is identical to what you're showing in the screenshot yet the presets still weren't showing up ingame. 29 minutes ago, subaverage said: I have to admit I am a bit confused. Maybe I wasn't clear, but I'm starting the game through F4SE in MO2. If I try to launch the game through f4se launcher file in the root folder, the game crashes. As I mentioned, the game will literally only ever start and not crash if I start the game via F4SE in MO2 lol. I also said that for a while I could run the f4se launcher without crashing, however, it didn't count my playtime. Steam just didn't register me playing Fallout at all when I launched it through the f4se loader file in the root folder. I also had the mod "Achievements" installed so that getting Achievements in the modded game wouldn't be an issue. I blocked steam from updating my game, and even then I didn't launch the game from Steam, I was only launching it through F4SE in MO2. I have the correct version of Looksmenu and F4SE for FO4 1.10.163.0 and my game is indeed 1.10.163.0 as that's what I see when I check the properties of Fallout 4.exe. Also F4SE would definitely complain if my game was New Gen again since it complained before I downgraded.
subaverage
In this case I can only recommend to try a clean install of FO4. With the game folder, the Fallout 4 folder under documents\my games and the plugins.txt under appdata\local\Fallout 4 deleted. You could make copies of these folders before you delete everything. Afterward reinstall FO4 again, make the downgrade and install F4SE 0.6.23 and Looksmenu v1-6-20. Take a preset of your liking and copy it to: C:\Games\Steam\steamapps\common\Fallout4\Data\F4SE\Plugins\F4EE\Presets\ without any additional mods. Afterwards you could start a new game without using a mod manager through the f4se_loader and see whether the game starts and you could load a preset in the first character creation scene now. (Even if you might not have all requirements for the preset). If not, you should still have your copy of the former folders. This is the hard way I know, but often the best. I never upgraded and can only say that in my case Looksmenu and LMCC work well.
fraquar
I'm one that rarely recommends a clean install - especially if you are using MO2. Are you using Buffout 4 and do you have the proper setting in the .INI for compatibility with LooksMenu? Beyond that I can't help. I'm not one of those people that want to play Barbie/Ken with my character....
