chefbt
HI, I have been playing FO4 for about 3 months - a few weeks ago, I discovered Mods. I have about 400 hours in the game, hit level 100 yesterday and have about 75 mods installed. I blew up the institute, but there is still much I want to do and still have much to explore/build. I want to start a new game under a new profile and use SS2. I came across A Story Wealth and would really like to try it - however it requires doing a "downgrade" to accommodate many of the apps that don't work on the next-gen version. I don't want to loose my current playthrough - is it possible to keep it and have a second profile/new game with the Story Wealth plugins but downgraded? I understand how to de-activate apps in my current playthrough in the new profile, but am not clear on the downgrade piece and how it would affect my current play through which has mods for next-gen. Please explain as if you were explaining to a complete beginner. Thanks so much for any help and feedback.
363rdChemicalCompany
I do not think that is posisble as your profile are merely a set of which mods, which Vortex has acting on your given game files. Either .163 or .984 I have tried something broadly comparable by running 2 copies of F4SE and one (on taskbar pathing to the GOG copy of the game and one (on top of vortex icon pathing to the steam version. Eventually both F4SE shortcuts seems to be pointing at the same location though
TenaciousDSquare
You can do this in Mod Organizer 2, but you don't use Profiles. Set it up as a new Instance just like you would a new game. Warning! Make sure your modding tools (LOOT, xEdit, and like apps) are looking at the same Instance you are.
fraquar
If you are trying to run two different game versions - listen to what TenaciousDSquare says. MO2 will allow you to do that (how depends on how you set up MO2 to work). Not sure about Vortex. ----- In a nutshell for MO2 Profiles are meant to work off the same installation path and the same mod installation. They won't work cross platform (i.e. .163 and .984 - only one of them) They just let you disable and enable different mods accordingly on the same version. --- Instances are essentially completely different paths and mod installations to work on that path. Primarily meant for running multiple different games - but also multiple different versions of the same game - each with their own path. Ex. Fallout 3, Fallout NV and TTW - each would be a separate instance and each would have their own mod installation paths and .INI files.
