Yes,  the problem with some of the older games is the many versions. I have several CD based versions of BG1 and 2 and the box set I have now thinks it will run only in Canada whereas it wasn't bought there, has never been there  and used to run without knowing about Canada when I first bought it many, many years ago. None of the fixes work either... so it won't accept some mods because it thinks it's somewhere it isn't...others are fine.

GOG have a sale and I may buy yet another copy of BG1 and 2 so I can break it to my heart's content. Steam can be sometimes just a little too protective about doing 'silly' things... 😄 I've been looking at other D&D games that might appeal to me - I really like isometric games and I love the Infinity Engine - warts and all...

Re cheats - yes, I sometimes have to do that to progress but I then just pop out of pretend and into reality, be all real world for a few minutes and then pop back. However, it's not that easy for everyone to do that and I can understand their irritations.

Re NWN radial menu - agreed - drives me spare! And I have trouble working out where I am and where I'm going... I'm hoping that eventually my past skills with NWN will kick in or I'll learn some more... It is very atmospheric though and the graphics are gorgeous... even now...

I'm a great fan of Morrowind - and rediscovered OpenMW earlier this year and am really smitten! 😍

Got off topic, then really off topic. I'll see when I can take this elsewhere. Last note, I'm not the only BG 1979 fan who hated the reboot.

I avoid cheating, save one time, I misplaced the elf amulet. I wasn't about to spend hours trying to find it.

Radial menu - i'm looking around for fixes. I found one that does a more standard window format.

On neverwinter vault, the enhanced AI was great!   Opps, the indestructible gollem followed me into a building. AI bug, too big to go through the door. Uses delan used a +3 double axe vs a +2 strength mace, maybe a AI bug. Turn off the dog automaticly smashing a chest. Lots of great changes.

OpenMW looks great!   I could get it to work for some reason. I'll try again another time.

Thanks...
