vykaz
hi y'all sorry to bother you with this, but I am at my wits end. My game on a character is at a point where it freezes terminally. Sounds are still playing, but nothing moves anymore. Interestingly, if I load an earlier save, tha game will be playable for some time, but it will freeze after a seemingly defined amount of time. So it appears that the game cannot go beyond this certain point of time, when it just decides to stop working. So, recent save: approx. 20 seconds until freeze Older save (10min earlier than recent save): 10min 20sec until freeze I tried removing some mods, tinkering with SSE Enginge Fixes, cleaning the save etc. to no avail. Did anyone ever experience this behaviour? Does anyone have an idea how I could information on why it freezes? ANY HELP WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED just in case I'll post my modlist here, too loadorder.txt
AaronOfMpls
Sounds like something is progressively overloading your save, but I'm not sure what. Do save cleaners report any potential problems on (copies of) those slightly older saves? (If I remember right, FallrimTools ReSaver can report on some of these.) I gather you don't have crash logs, since the game is freezing rather than crashing? And yah, Engine Fixes settings might not have much to do with this, since the tweaks I know about are for crash-on-save or crash-on-load when your save file gets too big to load without them.
vykaz
The savefile was successfully loaded. Read 17,4 mb in 2,9 seconds. SKSE co-save was loaded. Potential problems were identified There are 57 unattached instances. There are 2 undefined elements. this is what ReSaver reports on one of those older savefiles. I removed those already, but it didnt help. Trainwreck did not write any crash logs for these instances unfortunately. Could it be a problem of resource allocation on my end? Karna5
From your symptoms, vykaz, as well your trouble shooting so far, a physical issue should be considered. Perhaps you should try starting a new game, and see if you freeze there as well. If so, it could be time to start diagnosing your hard drives and memory. I'm not saying this is what's causing your problems, but it should be on the table of things you diagnose. For my game, for instance, if my head phones disconnect while the game is running, often my game completely freezes and never comes back. I have to use the task manager to close it. I can imagine a few things which could physically freeze Skyrim SE or any game.
Karna5
Follow up: Is your character by chance pregnant or under some kind of script which will kick off at some point in your game where it freezes? If so, you can try to force a status change to see if it's related to that. Also see if you have any spell effects which are counting down. p.s. If you have a clean, safe cell like dark room with nothing else in it, try using the coc command to go there and test whether your count down to freeze happens even in another cell you know to be clean. ("coc darkroom" if you have the mod.)
vykaz
i play without problems with other saves on another MO profile, hence i did not consider what you call a physical issue. These savefiles are not nearly as old as the one with the freezing issue, though. So I cant say wether or not they might run into the same problem at some point. I cant really say if a script kicks off either. Its probable though, since I run a lot of mods. Gonna try out darkroom and report back, and disable any script-eavy mods that come to mind

Vo1andos
Damn I do really have this kind of an issue. Almost the same one as you describe. It has been almost 3 months since I am trying to get rid of it. The problem is I don't really know what the problem is. It occurs only after some progress in my playthrough. I would say it starts appearing after 30-60 minutes on a new savefile and drastically increases after some time. And after that I can only play for something like 3-5 minutes without TOTAL hard freezes (not for 30 seconds, but total), I need to manually close the game and restart. It is annoying AF
Vo1andos
Also I am using the VR version of Skyrim and my specs are not perfect but decent, can't see any problems with that. And yes my game is heavy modded, it is like 1000 mods (but mostly bug fixes), so I don't really know what is causing the issue and how to troubleshoot it. Resaver is OK CrashLogger doesn't show anything obviously (doesn't crash, just freezes) SYSTEM SPECS: OS: Microsoft Windows 11 Pro v10.0.22631 CPU: GenuineIntel 13th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-13100F GPU: Nvidia GA102 [GeForce RTX 3080 12GB] PHYSICAL MEMORY: 16 GB DDR4 GPU MEMORY: 12GB Damn I don't really know what to do really. It is almost impossible to turn the mods one by one. Even doing binary search could take something like 18 hours and still not solve anything (it could be that the freezes would become less often the less mods i use so I would not encounter them)
Vo1andos
The game mostly freezes right after I try change cells. For example leaving the tavern, or leaving the Belethor's store, or entering the store/tavern, leaving the city, entering the city
