Ads causing redirects/Fake McAfee Ads/Large Ads (Sept 2024)

Browsing mods for bannerlord, when clicking a mod to view more details, I'm seeing a variety of malicious looking pop ups. I work in web hosting and when we see similar things it is almost always indicative of malware. It may be worth reaching out to your web-host or developer to ensure the site is secure.

While searching through skyrim mods I have been repeatedly redirected to "world of tanks" page and "Mcafee" page. It occurs after getting results for a keyword search and selecting the next page of results. Also the audio from the nexus mods pop up ad is randomly playing its audio at full volume without being interacted with. This only happens for a second or two, but is usually really loud. Also thank all of you for the YEARS of being able to use this site at no cost. I've never had issues like this and don't want to come across as complaining. I want the site to work well. Thank you for your time.

Same issue here.  I've noticed things got a lot worse over the last week with large adds at the bottom covering half the page and these redirects.

That being said... we're looking at removing the left and right adverts (on your example the HSBC and Bupa ones) as we agree that there are too many ads.

I keep getting forcefully redirected to malicious websites when trying to browse mods, specifically Starfield but some others are affected as well. I was on this page https://www.nexusmods.com/starfield/search/ when the page reloaded automatically and forced me onto the website shown in the attached file. These are just two examples of the phising and malware sites that I have been redirected to from the nexus website AUTOMATICALLY WITHOUT CONSENT. I get that showing ads is fine, but forcing me into a website is not okay in the slightest.

 

I keep getting force redirects (I dont even click anything) that take me to phishing and malware sites. One site, neetoutoo, seems to be one of the main ones that I get redirected to. One moment I am looking at Starfield mods and the next I'm staring at "Norton has found viruses on your computer, click here to remove them." Thought I had an adware but it turns out to just be nexus itself.

I am receiving a lot of redirects and invasive ads while browsing. Sometimes, I can only browse nexus for 10 to 15 seconds before being hit with a redirect to somewhere offsite.

 

So far, this seems to occur on any page of the nexus site. I have received these redirect ads while browsing mod search results, while attempting to download mods from file pages, while reading a mod's description, and even while scrolling through nexus help pages. The issue is very widespread.

 

The advertisements I see are quite varied, and there doesn't seem to be any specific ad displayed when these redirects happen.

I'm seeing these too, it's infuriating. I can't even leave a nexus tab open in the background. Thankfully, my mouse has a back button I can spam to back out. 

The domain I keep seeing is "ak.itponytaa" if anyone smarter than me can figure that out.
