Skyrim SE creates a new save profile after detecting a missing ESP or Mod

I don't know what's happening, but it's extremely annoying. I removed an ESP via mod manager from a texture/clothing mod I no longer wanted to use and every time I loaded my existing save and saved again, the game created a new save profile without the tag [modded] after it. And when I loaded the new save, mods either weren't loaded at all or were only partially loaded.
