Shadeybladey
Edit: Solution What worked for me is going in to my player home at Riverwood, disabling Realistic Needs and Diseases so I don't starve to death/die of thirst, saving and going to bed for 30 days. This reset every cell (except mods, it seems) and I could access Lakeview Manor. No idea why it crashes and no idea why this works. It's not ideal, as I don't like missing a month artificially and I've never done this to reset dungeons etc to get more treasure, but it worked. ~,~ For the first time in more than 12 years I decided to Build My Own Home with Hearthfires and explore more of Falkreath. I've done almost everything else in Skyrim. So I made the Manor with Alchemy, Enchanting and Library towers for the view and defences, left Lydia in charge as my Steward and went to buy more sawn logs and go hunting for decorations with the other two companions, Jenassa and Rayya (I have UFO). My character was level 40 and I never had Rayya as a Housecarl before and wanted to see her and Jenassa dual wield the two Mithril scimitars I crafted for them. But no matter what I do, fast travel or walk, no matter which direction I approach, the game CTDs. I can get close enough to see the place, but it seems that as soon as I enter the cell the game crashes. I can fast travel to the Pinewatch Bandit bridge, and maybe the cabin, but I cannot reach Lakeview Manor. A Google search showed that people have had this issue since Hearthfires was new. The only "fix" I saw was to delete the carpentry tables from inside the place. But I can't get there to do it! And I had a tonne of building materials in the chest outside. So I loaded a game at level 38, where I had just arrived at the building site, Console cheated all the raw materials I'd need, plus bottles to make glass. The Sawn Logs go to the wood pile, not into my bags! So I Smithed up all the fittings, locks, hinges, glass etc to get my XP back and built the whole thing, but with Kitchen instead of Library and Bedroom instead of Enchanter's tower. Then I made Rayya my Steward and dismissed her as a follower and she said she'd tend to the Manor while I was away. I removed the Carpentry stations from inside. So after travelling around and hunting, I went back to the Manor and everything's fine! She's level 41 now. But now I have a Kitchen instead of a Library and a spare Bedroom instead of an Enchanter's tower. I don't like the way monsters could walk up the stairs to the balcony above the bedroom and attack my guests! I know they won't, but it's an RPG thing. Does anyone have any experience of this happening? Or have they heard of what can cause it? Is it having three towers? I'm wondering if it's because of Lydia being Steward in the first one? I don't recall if I dismissed her as a follower or just told her to relax. Cheers! Edited October 20 by Shadeybladey Solution found
scorrp10
I recall very very vaguely there being some bug related to those tower parts in LE. Not in SE though. Btw, consider extending your manor in style.

I do like the idea of an outdoors greenhouse, though. I made tonnes of glass, and the greenhouse the first time round seemed to have no windows! I loaded another earlier save at level 39 from where I'd partly built most of the place, with three towers. Shortly after the place was finished, Lydia actually offered to be my Steward, so I said yes, took her weapons and armour so she'd wear the fine clothes I gave her and dismissed her as a follower. So far, it's working ok. I went to Riverwood to my own player home mod, where I dump all my books and everything I will need for enchanting, smithing and alchemy, and back to Lakeview a few times and no crashes! Then I cleared out Pinewood Cabin or wtv it's called and sold off the junk and still no crashes. I log all my skill increases and Feats on a Character Sheet I print out, so it's a pain re-doing levels. Now I just have to explore the rest of Western Falkreath again and loot Bilegulch Mine etc. I also killed a dragon at Riverwood. Level 42 now. But now I am wishing I had a kitchen... Cheers! Shadeybladey
Well, I'm level 43 and it's crashing again after sleeping there. Now I can't get out!
Rodr1sen
I hope some information helps you solve it, I'm going blind, I don't even know if you use MO2. Keep in mind that I use MO2, (for some reason I just realized that maybe I'm not on the skyrim LE forum, I don't know why I go to the LE forum and end up seeing SE posts). -I remember reading about a collision marker incident, there is a mod that solves it in nexus (while I was putting together the post I found it) Skyrim HearthFire LakeViewFix but it is from 2013. -Another very normal problem is that you may be using 2 mods that are modifying the textures but that have custom textures then (if you use MO2) mods can modify the meshes and overwrite them but the textures that are loaded will be incorrect. -Another issue may be if you are using something that had to do with carriages, but I don't remember that at all how I found it. -Use Resaver to clean up any orphaned script or anything that has been put wrong? -Unfortunately you can't do much because the game puts everything about heartfire in your save as soon as you start a new game, I think I once read something about going back to a previous save, removing hearfire from mo2, sorry, I don't remember anything else, maybe it was do a clean save like this and then put it back in and reload that last game. or just remove it, start the game, save and put it back. I don't remember anything about what that topic was like. -Once I remember having removed the saves from the folder, I started a new game and put back all the files I had removed, loaded the game that had problems and made a new save (this last save will have the numbering of the previous save in game new and not the consecutive numbering of the save with problems). Don't ask me why I did it or what I was trying to solve, but at the time it worked for me. (of course doing in conjunction with: being in a closed and remote place like qasmoke, using ressaver, waiting 31 days in game, well, you probably already know, the usual basics) -I always use Rayya to take charge of the house because the others sometimes I had problems with basic things. -You could also try loading an old game and putting this mod and just start that whole quest and create the house, or just try putting it on and give it a chance to see what happens (I always have it active on my MO2 and I have even put it with other things using zMerge and it works without problems) Hearthfire attacks disabled, maybe it could be a script that is not working well, It would be one in a million that this is exactly what it is, but hey, at least you can remove it as a problem. This is the LE forum and I am playing SLE with all the DLC and separate Unofficial patches. But I never use Mod Manglers, unless TESEdit counts. Thanks for taking the time to make this reply, I appreciate it. I went back to another earlier save at level 39 where I had built the kitchen and bedroom with the Alchemy tower, with Rayya as Steward and it seems OK so far. I was going to play it until it started crashing again. But then I stupidly updated a Lantern and braziers mod and it made all the lantern textures vanish! Reverting to an older version was a problem as my back ups (and music, videos etc) were on my G:\ drive, which seems kaput atm. So I manually removed it all used a different Lantern mod and started a new game to see how it goes. I'll return to the other save later. It's so annoying that people think mods form 2013 can't be used, you HAVE to get the latest version. Not so. Older versions often work better! Anything after SkyTest 1.38, for example has invisible mudcrabs! And Immersive Content lanterns worked perfectly, but I had a feeling it was causing the crashes for some reason. Realistic Outdoor Lights had a texture missing! The only mod I can think of that adds or changes spawn points nearby is 83Willows. There are a few clouds of butterflies, one by the animal pen, one by the pool with mudcrabs and a few on the road towards Pinewatch Cabin. I did try that big Carriages mods once, years ago, where you physically travel round Skyrim on a carriage, but the novelty soon wore off so that's been gone for years. I do have a horse, cow and personal carriage from Hearthfires, but I asked Rayya to buy three chickens. She took the money but I've got only one! Although, I can buy more. Another thing I tried was disable all mods except SkyUI, my own mods and the Unofficial Patches. That let me load the game and get out of the place! But I've not gone through the painful process of enabling one at a time to find the possible culprit. Cheers!
Rodr1sen
Well, who would imagine it?. I'm just in a new game, and today I was about to return to Falkreath to buy the house and start building as far as I can with the materials and it just so happens that in this new game I just installed 83Willows 101BugsHD so I will eventually return to: point 1: join your query if I have problems too point 2: let you know if I don't have problems Although I would have to recreate the same things that you have done to see if there are problems but I do not use any mod for the exterior of Lakeview Manor, I choose Rayya as housekeeper, I do the kitchen and the children's bedrooms (these are from a mod) and then I just decorate it, this time I'm going to use one of the empty rooms to use it with another mod that adds shelves for books. So if doing all that in the process I get the same problems as you, it may be related. I will test and test and edit my level to raise it to 40+ to recreate (almost) your situation I'm sure it took me a little while to bring you some results, it doesn't bother me anyway since I will also do it to make sure that I won't have problems later. Shadeybladey
Good Luck! I am making a patch for 83Willows to go with my Alchemy mod. I split Novice to Master into 5 separate nodes as one side of the flat-bottomed flask in the Perk Tree, have Experimenter I to III going up the other side and split the tree in the middle from Herbalist to Healer and Apothecary and Herbalist to Poisoner and Toxicologist. So I can focus on one, the other, or both. I also reworked the perks to make things a bit more powerful and redid all the potions and poisons available in the game. The problem with 83Willows is that the numbers in a lot of the reagents are way off. Even with no Perks, things like Drain and Ravage potions can be worth like 100k gold pieces, give 12 to 20 Alchemy Experience and do insane things like 117 damage per second for 518 seconds! It's nice to have some Easter Eggs to give more powerful effects, like in Vanilla, but this is way OTT. Others have made patches as well, but I need to make my own. I have another problem now. None of the braziers in Skyrim have coals or flames in them, except a few edited by USKP. The problem with Immersive Content's Lanterns are that: 1) if I ever started a game with ImmersiveContent.esm active, my character was wearing a horned helmet during character creation! So I couldn't see what she looks like! So I disabled the esm and the torches, lanterns and braziers on bridges etc worked perfectly. It was only because TESEdit gave an error that I re-enabled it. 2) it's impossible to get the original version I was using; 3) the newer "Legendary" version I tried was designed for a single unofficial patch, USLEEP, but it doesn't say so! So that just crashed on loading due to a missing requirement. 4) the installation "instructions" say "use the installer and follow what it says", but there is no installer anywhere. SKSE, for example, DOES have an installer with it. 5) There is an older version available, but not as old as the one I was using, called "Installer", but there is no installer. There's no *.exe or jar file in the mod; 6) all the textures for moveable lanterns were missing; 7) so I removed it and all it's assets and I got the lanterns back, and used Lanterns of Skyrim instead, but now all the braziers are empty, even after starting a new game. But surely they should be there in the vanilla bsa? Maybe if I tried the high res textures? I really liked the Braziers on the bridges, but the bright purple lanterns were really annoying. Even though all I do with them is use them to make iron ingots. Another example of updating an old mod for no reason causing problems that never existed before. Because of the newer version. I also wonder how the FOMOD stuff should be installed? Several mods have it, but they will overwrite each other? I'll have to start a new thread about that. Edit: Ah, I realised after posting that it's for FallOut Mod manager. I used that years ago but not any more. Cheers!
Shadeybladey
Well, my new character is level 36, just did the Jurgen Windcaller main quest, and on fast travelling to Lakeview Manor I am crashing again. So I went to Riverwood first and saved, and then crashed again on fast travelling. So I reloaded and fast travelled to Pinecreek and crashed. So I reloaded and walked there and crashed when I was almost there. The crash logs have this at the end: Stack trace: Frame: 0, FP: TESV.exe+0x00b53759 Param 0: <unknown>+0x55b7fa68 (void*) Param 1: <unknown>+0x00000104 (void*) Param 2: <unknown>+0x3008caac (char*) "Strafing Controller" Param 3: <unknown>+0x50e918a0 (void*) RET: TESV.exe+0x007715e7 Frame: 1, FP: TESV.exe+0x007715e7 Param 0: 0x00000000 (null) Param 1: TESV.exe+0x017a5830 (void*) Param 2: <unknown>+0x55b7fb9c (void*) Param 3: 0x00000000 (null) RET: TESV.exe+0x00966b7a Frame: 2, FP: TESV.exe+0x00966b7a Param 0: TESV.exe+0x017a5830 (void*) Param 1: <unknown>+0x55b7fb9c (void*) Param 2: 0x00000000 (null) Param 3: 0x00000000 (null) RET: <unknown>+0x00000000 Any idea how I can fix this, because now it's getting annoying. I found a thread suggesting it was fixed by using the console and player.kill, but no luck. Cheers!
Rodr1sen
You made me remember one time that I couldn't enter the thieves' den in Riften, when I did a player reset inventory I was able to solve it, but of course, I'm trying and removing mods and I think it was because of one that was affecting me . Look carefully for information on this topic beforehand since it deletes everything you have in your inventory (not the spells). There are some steps to take into account before using that command. Actually I was coming back because as I had told you I also had that insects mod and if I remember correctly I'm already at level 36+ or thereabouts and I was about to go to Lakeview Manor so first I wanted to see how things had gone for you Tonight I'm going to go around and see what's going on in that cell.
