NamesAreTooSimple
wanted to revisit new vegas since the last time i played it was years ago. i followed the modding tips from this youtube guide to help me strictly with performance and frame related modding since i want an experience that's as vanilla as possible.. these are the only mods i have going, including a couple of the manual mods suggested in the video. and im about 95% sure i followed the guide to the letter. https://imgflip.com/i/957i3u (sorry, i don't know where else to upload the screenshot for higher resolution) and this is what my water in the outside currently looks like. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3340892806 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3340892944 does anyone know what i did wrong and what i need to do to fix it? Pellape
@NamesAreTooSimpleOdd that you did not got a single reply really. It seems that the real good problem solvers do hang out at the Oblivion forum. I will keep that in mind. It is almost the same game, technically. I should go there and drop a hello really as I did spend a lot of time there myself. Yeapp, I do that. I cannot say right now: This is causing your issue nor, uninstall his mod. What we need is a full list of your mods. The first screenshot is not possible to see at all. The mods can be listed at 2 places in the file Plugins.tx: C:\Users\<Your usename>\AppData\Local\FalloutNV The folder Appdata is hidden, so you must unhide hidden files and folders to see it. Use google if you do not know how to do it and if you fail, I will get you a guide for it. To see it, you must also doubleclick your username from C:\users If you made your Plugins.txt manually, it is located at: C:\Users\<Yout username>\Documents\My Games\FalloutNV Did you by any chance installed any graphic mods? Uncheck them and try again. One golden rule to follow, when installing mods is to install one in a time and test them, a rule I sure break myself, to often, but still. Uncheck every single mod Start a new game for play testing the mods as your save game might not work without them, at least if you did play F4, as that game is a bloody mess when it comes to modding Go and place your char at some water and save there and quit the game. Check one mod at a time and go in to the game again. When the water turns odd, you sure know the cause. If the graphic mod only had loose files, with no esp, then it will be much harder to find the problem for sure. Honestly, if I where you, I would uninstall FNV, delete the whole FNV folder, install the game again, install each mod, one by one, go to the water, stay there to start with until this issue occur. Is it fun doing this? No way it is, but I am sorry, it is the only way to fix this issue. I am convinced you already know which of your mods are graphic mods and not. You can also contact the author of that video, make a comment below the video, write WTF. You can also see his name and links below the video and most likely, he use the same name here at nexus, so send him a PM, asking him: WTF. He will also get an email, with WTF. Pellape
@JimboUKand @NamesAreTooSimple I did forget about the driver issue. I do have an AMD myself, and had extreme issues with it and it also refused to not load after I got my NVDIA 3080 installed, that do not have such issues. Only way to make the bloody AMD card to not load at all, was to use DDU. Download Display Driver Uninstaller from https://www.wagnardsoft.com/ can stop MS to install drivers during MS update as it is MS update that causes this issue, as you will need to downgrade AMD, most likely. So many have issues with the AMD graphics and it sure drove me mad until I found DDU. I did find it at Youtube. I did had a different issue, as my screen did turn black when I used both AMD and NVDIA 3080 at the same time. MS are not suited to decide which driver you should use, as it is the hardware companies, like AMD or NVDIA that knows which drivers that should be used for their hardware. Do take a peek at this video, that explains this and it took me weeks to finally find a solution that works. I just downgraded my NVIDIA as I switched from my 3080 to my 760 because it do not work after a MS crash 2 weeks ago, so I had to reinstall everything. I do not see any differences anyway in FNV and F3 between those cards, only in F4 and Starfield and I do not play them right now anyway. Starfield just SUX. What a sh't game. Looks so bloody good thou with the 3080 card, no doubt. Look is not everything. F4 is unplayable with the 760xi card. i am tired of all F4 crashes anyway. So if this is your AMD card causing this issue, it is cheap to just get a NVDIA 760xi or 1080 xi second hand. If you are using a laptop, then it will get a bit more complicated but many are able to get their hardware exchanged, well Graphic cards that is, so peek of you can upgrade yours if you have an AMD card, to NVIDIA. Pick one. But be sure you stop MS update of your graphic driver in Windows Safe-Mode as you cannot do that in Widows user mode https://ghosterysearch.com/search?q=windows+safe+mode https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=ddu+uninstaller Damn i just downgraded my NVDIA 760xi from 5xx to 4xx driver, when I wrote this and I lost contact with my computer 30 min ago, with Google remote from my GFs flat... Damn. I will not get home until monday to see what did happen... Hopefully it is only Google remote that did not start up again or that the network went down. I hate reinstalling it... I did backup the saves a week ago... I also just had a MS update, refused to install win 11 and if it tries to install AMD again, it will take long time for it to revert it if it fails doing it and it will fail it. I do hope this is what is happening right now. The computer i am using right now, at my GFs flat, do have an AMD R5, which does not have DDU installed nor any issues ever with the graphics, so far. Reinstalled it during the summer because it crashed as well. Edited November 3 by Pellape
Pellape
Google Remote Desktop did not start up again, nothing special did happen, that's it. Damn, I did get a bit worried there. Otherwise, a cool and easy to use app, freeware. I did use it at school, from my home and also from school to my home. Both comps did have NVIDIA 3080 but the school computer did have more RAM, 64Gb and this have only 32Gb. I did not want to sit and wait at home, making a single 30s CGI, waiting for it to get completed in 10 hours at my own computer for sure. So I time to time, did log in to school, peeking at the progress, every day. We did had one school computer dedicated to us, so it was mine as long as I stayed at that school. As a poor student, I got lucky. I did find the 3080 card, second hand online for €150 I did need to buy a new box €100 to make it fit at all, and a new power supply for €75, 750W. This comp rocks. The FNV and F3 loads fast, no lag at all. Not even with my 760 xi card. I cannot see any difference between the 3080 and 760xi in FNV or F3 honestly. The question now is, how to solve the GECK crashes in facegen? Edited November 4 by Pellape
