Shadeybladey
I've used the Play and Bash and Become a Bard mods for years, and they work together very well and don't conflict. But as I wanted an AD&D type of Drums of Panic, Lute of Fury and Flute of Harmony with Play and Bash (Battleflute.esp), I needed short clips. But when playing Flute, Lute or Drums with either mod, I played the music the Vanilla Bards all played at Inns and taverns, unless I used the Songs of Skyrim, ...Morrowind song books. So I made short wave file clips from various heavy and progressive rock tracks featuring each instrument and used those to replace the Vanilla tracks, which I backed up on a sadly defunct SSD. My new wav files have the same names as the Vanilla, and wave files worked. I had no clue how to make *.xwm files as the mods said. But I now had short songs, and the Vanilla Bards now played MY songs. But now that I HAVE worked out how to do that, I want to restore the originals so all the other Bards of Skyrim play their originals. The files are in: C:\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim\Data\Sound\fx\Mus\Bard with sub folders of Drum, Flute and Lute. There are three Drum tracks, six Flute and four Lute. I've got Steam to verify my files several times, but they do not get replaced. I often get the "One file could not be verified so will be re-acquired" message, but running it again gives the same "error" message. Any idea how I can do this? I'm positive they are Vanilla, as although I've used Malukah's songbook and used mods that changed the songs the Bards played in the past, these tracks were always there. Cheers! Shadeybladey
I moved those wav files out and the Bards now play different songs and music, and all my songs are different, except the custom ones. I don't know if these are in a vanilla or a mod bsa, though. When I use a "fine" instrument with Play and Bash I get these new music pieces, and also when I use the Shout key after selecting the "spell" for Become a Bard. I actually enable these by favouriting them and selecting them from the Favoritesmenu.cfg display from the CFM mod. When I use the Enigmatic Song books from Play and Bash, I get my custom songs, as I do when I use the Custom Song Book from Become a Bard.
Shadeybladey
The files I want to replace are: mus_barddrum_01.wav mus_barddrum_02.wav mus_barddrum_03.wav mus_bardflute_01_sarba.wav mus_bardflute_02_psalm.wav mus_bardflute_03_bookoflife.wav mus_bardflute_04_ascents.wav mus_bardflute_05_trip.wav mus_bardflute_06_springhouse.wav mus_bardlute_01.wav mus_bardlute_02.wav mus_bardlute_03.wav mus_bardlute_04.wav I'm beginning to think those original sound files were maybe from a mod. The original files will be in one of the base Skyrim .bsa's, rather than as loose files. The UESP wiki has samples of each one, linked from the Skyrim: Bardic Performances page, if you'd rather not hunt them down in the game .bsa's. Shadeybladey
Those files have the same names as the ones I changed! And my Bard now plays them if I just select an instrument. I play the clips I made with "Custom Song Book" from "Become a Bard" and using the "Enigmatic Song Books" from "Play and Bash". No wonder there were so many mods changing the default bard music! Apart from some of the Lute ones, they are pretty poor! Thanks! Mystery solved! Now the only problem I have is that with "Play and Bash" my bard either uses the wrong instrument or none at all, as she's meant to be singing! But I can live with that! My Bardsongs of Harmony, Panic and Frenzy all work! I suppose I must have originally extracted them from the Bsa to get them as loose files? But that was, like, 11 years ago or more! Cheers! Glad it's (mostly) working how you want, now!
