vortex app suddenly refuses to put mods in my game pak folder because the folder is controlled by the game? (huh?)

in the past, Vortex would put mods in my game pak folder and remove them when i disabled them with the vortex app. this all seems appropriate and normal and logical

I took a month break from VR and now that I am back, vortex is trying to store my mods in a folder that the game does not recognize as valid for mods - the game wants them only in my pak folder, as expected. in the past, all mods were stored in the game pak folder, where the game naturally goes to check for mods

when I tried to change the folder back to my game pak folder, vortex says: "you can not put mods into your game directory. This directory is under the control of the game (and potentially steam or similar) so your mods might be deleted or moved or otherwise damaged by foreign software. Please choose a separate folder for staging folder, one that no other application uses"

I am using the latest version of vortex – 1.12.6

FYI I'm trying to change my vortex staging folder back to steamapps – common – into the radius – into the radius – content – paks

Sounds like you're trying to set the staging folder to an invalid location. The mod staging folder must be on the same drive as the game but NOT in the game folder.
