Using Vortex, and I'm losing Gigabytes of space for seemingly no reason

So recently I had a bit of an issue with corrupted Skyrim saves in Vortex which caused me to troubleshoot. I kept re-deploying and re-installing a bunch of mods while troubleshooting the issue. I noticed something pretty strange and worrying while doing that: I kept losing space without downloading anything.

I would just spend an hour or so installing and reinstalling mods, then launch the game, then the game would crash, then repeat. Afterwards when I checked the space on my drive, it was suddenly 4 gigabytes fuller. I've done it some more and now it's 6 gigabytes. I can't pinpoint the exact cause though. I've only just now stopped troubleshooting by fixing the issue I had, which was corrupt savefiles messing with Creations.

It's neither the staging folder, download folder nor the Skyrim folder that is gaining size. All I can tell so far is that it's on the same drive as the game I'm modding and Vortex. Anyone know what is causing this?

This doesn't sound like something Vortex would cause. I'd personally recommend using something like "Space Sniffer" to visualise where the space on your drive is going. The only 4 places Vortex can add/remove files would be the game folders, the staging folder, the download folder or Vortex's AppData folder.
