haslador
Ok so i followed videos on youtube. I copyed a npc. Made a faction targeted the chest. Set the npc to the faction, and put in faction JobMerchantFaction In package i copyed Belethor merchant package, changed the refference to near self. Set the time in the ck for them to sell. When i go and talk to them in game they wont sell, so not sure what im doing wrong.
Hanaisse
The one thing I can think of to check is your NPC's voice type. Just like followers not all of them have Merchant dialogue.
greyday01
Another thing I could think of. Instead of copying the npc and packages r-click and make new ones instead. Copying is ok for things like statics and misc items but anything involving dialogs or quests can get funky when copied. Start fresh.
haslador
Problem was simple, the faction was set to a done, not near self.

It sounds like you’ve followed most steps correctly for setting up your merchant NPC, but the issue might be related to the AI package priorities or the chest not being properly linked. Make sure the chest reference is assigned as the faction's container and the AI package is set to "merchant" with selling conditions enabled. Additionally, double-check the dialogue options in the creation kit to ensure the trade dialogue is triggered. Testing the setup in a clean save might also help identify what’s missing.
