Deployment not working

So every now and then when I start trying to use mods in a game with vortex all of a sudden when I click "Deploy" I don't get a pop up saying it worked or failed.. just silence (in text form) I've looked this up but all the help I find doesn't help. Anyone know how to help?

If you get no feedback that generally means it succeeded - what makes you think it didn't? 

You can check your Vortex log by locating the %appdata%\Vortex\vortex.log file.

I do get either nothing and I load in and the mods aren't active. Or I get an error saying that certain mods are redundant even when it's my first time modding the game and downloading said mod. I haven't had time to fiddle but tomorrow I will take a look into your answer and another I found on reddit

Sorry I've gotten back late, Christmas and all. But I've got it up and see notepad with a bunch of code. What should I be looking for? And how should I go about fixing it? I've only been gaming on PC for like a year and half and I'm slowly but surely learning how to work with one.
