Mod Idea: Courier cannot die while his brain is in the organ room in Big Mountain

I DON'T have any hopes that anyone will ever mod this idea into a fully functional add-on. I'm just posting here to - you know - let people know just how cool it is.

It basically involves making the courier immortal while his brain is in the organ room in Big Mountain, i.e if he has the "brainless" perk. This mod would revolve around a few core premises:

1. The courier's consciousness would be safely stored inside a tank in big mountain. This means he cannot truly be killed.

2. If the courier is killed in combat, dies from radiation or otherwise suffers any other type of death that doesn't involve the destruction of the brain tank, only his body would be lost.

3. His body being lost means his race, gender, looks, perks, level and everything related to this previous body would be lost. A new body would have to be crafted by the Sink or the Big MT scientists if they're still alive. The courier's new body could have another appearance or gender, but it would *Not* have level progress and it could not redo any quests.

4. Only quest progress and world altering events made before the courier's "death" would be kept. This means the player could play the game after he died (if he has the brainless perk). This also means the player, in many ways, would have to start much of his progress from scratch.

That's it, basically. I always thought it was weird a system like this wasn't in place if your brain is kept safely away from your body since Obsidian is such an intelligent studio. Why are you forced to reload after dying even if your brain is far away from your body? I know it's due to time constraints and such, but this idea seems really lore-friendly to me - especially in a world of Fallout where this kind of weird advanced technology is possible.

Most people would probably reload and "win" to keep their progress, even if they had the mod installed. This mod's target audience is to those who would like to experience this situation without reloading, likely hardcore players/completionists, etc.

Interesting concept for sure!

The brain tank is quite the horcrux of sorts, and it would be fun to have such an unforgiving punishment to "death". But it would likely be an absolute nightmare to try to accomplish, far beyond my abilities. It might not even be possible to go against such a core game mechanic. Maybe someone knows more than me on the topic, though!

This sort of technological immortality isn't unheard of in the Fallout universe. In fact, New Vegas' own proof of such concept is right there in the Lucky 38. Mr. House has preserved his body in a stasis chamber and connected his mind to a computer mainframe where he can think and act. The courier's immortality would function just a little different - instead of a body projecting his mind to somewhere else, his brain would send command signals to a remote, far away body that could be controlled at will. In that sense the Courier and Mr. House would be the only potential candidates for immortality in the series (unless I'm forgetting something from Fallout 1 and 2?)

I also have no idea of how this idea could come to fruition. It would probably have to rely heavily on NVSE and other scripting libraries to work.
