We are working on a feature to allow users to set a preference for this.

This, right here, is exactly what's wrong with the update in a nutshell. You've removed key features like date range search, tracked content updates, list view etc and when people point this out 'you' tell us they're coming soon. The update shouldn't have been pushed through in a state where features were removed with a vague promise that they will come back sometime.

It's like nobody at Nexus thought 'oh what effect will this change have on mod authors, or mod users in how they use the site every day?'. An improvement should do everything it did before, but better, not worse with fewer features.

So I was actually optimistic about the new design and even opted into the 'beta' for it early. That said, I think the new UI is killing modding for me. It's just kind of a pain to get to the mods I want. I have to perform an extra click or two, an extra scroll down, etc... Stuff that seems insignificant in a vacuum but really adds up when trying to put together a load order.
I'm aware this isn't exactly a controversial take lol, and I'm not posting for engagement, I'm just making my small voice heard. My wallet will be talking too, I don't want to support this.

Still haven't heard a word as to why the option to filter by trending was erroneously removed. This, along with the removal or date range searching, tops my long list of problems with the new layout not only because of how I've used the website for the past 5 years, but because it runs counter to the claims from the nexus team that this layout will help users discover new, quality mods. The site really does feel like it's devolving with this latest layout.

Just want to point out that this particular thing is a bug, and we're aware of it. Hopefully, it'll get fixed soon.

man, I really had to come back to say this one thing because I just feel it's much needed right now as much as this whole enforcement is never going to end it seems as we just get ignored:

none of these bugs would have existed in the first place if you guys never created them... what I don't get is why they needed to remove the old link to the old page completely which is beyond me. Feedback could have been easily acquired in a very respectable way if the old page still existed but now you've gone and pissed in everyone's faces. Numbers always prove what is better and I can almost assure more people were using the old design way more than the new and they could've taken the time to move every part of the old design (almost mirror) on to the new one and just built off of it, that way no one would've complained as it would basically be the same thing but nope, some features were completely replaced, pages were bloated such as the main mod page slowing down load times while showing less mods overall and only to piss in new modders faces, even less hot mods are now being shown and even less new mods are being shown on the front page along with assortment of other things which just slow down the page. I have fast ethernet, a 4070 ti, and a high end cpu and even I am experiencing slow loading times sometimes. I can only imagine what people with much less powerful pcs are experiencing, even people on mobile devices. Anyways sorry about the rant.
