Request for reversion or even an option to switch style is a moot point. They aren't listening. We're getting the changes whether we like them or not. That decision was set in stone as soon as they put development $$$ into the "upgrade". The best we can do is beg for Improvements to the new site to make it at least a bit more palatable. That or do what some are doing and using something to Stylus to "mod" it ourselves.

Sure, or we can pull funding and move to alternatives. That's an option too.

(Nevermind, this was a f*#@ up at my part.)

Question, when i search for mods in the skyrim special edition section, why do mods from other games suddenly appear in the search results?

The current site design genuinely hurts my eyes and makes it very hard to read. I will not be able to use Nexus much if it stays the way it is, and I'm sure there are lots of people in the same boat. Idk what exactly it is, but the colors (which you mention in the first post) are a huge part of it, and the fonts if you've changed them. I never used to have problems, I could browse for hours at a time; now I can barely make it through a single mod description.

Same for me as well. The new UI makes it feel like a chore to browse the mods, I have no idea what they were thinking when they implemented this. Either way, I don't think anything short of them seeing a major drop in site traffic will make them consider reverting any of these changes, let alone them reverting back to the old UI.

The problem with restricting the mod titles within a grid tile to one line is that the majority of mods have longer titles than that, so a lot of information is lost. Ellipses aren't a good solution because some might have names like: Super Special Fighter Armor - SPID where the last part gets cut off.

Unlike on a mod page, where I changed to a condensed font, I found a condensed font is all but unreadable at smaller sizes in the list view. Inter is a terrible choice for titles on mod pages, but for titles within the list view it's much better.

Thanks for explanation. I already made some tweaks from your excellent CSS code and found solutions to suit my personal taste.

Personally i think 2 rows title is too much for overall cleanliness. Mod authors should stop to make it so long.

Adding 5 rows of description should help you understand enough what is the mod about.

Hope you don't mind i modified some of your work and credited your original source.

Edit: I'm experimenting adding a code line to show full 2 or 3 rows title only when hovering on it. It works and might be a solution.

I too, don't like the new design, way too big, too much wasted space, not pleasing to the eyes, & it actually feels harder to find what I'm actually looking for somehow..
is there a way to revert back to the old UI design? Are the devs gonna do something about it?

The mod browsing overhaul is causing noticeable eye strain for me, the old version did not, what more needs to be said?

The UI change is a pain, and I don't use this word lightly. I just wanted to add another mod and half way through, I just couldn't go on anymore because it just hurt my eyes. It was like going back in time and using some old-school monitor.

The fact that the site is now high-contrast is a serious issue. There's a reason high-contrast has always been a client-side option built into operating systems - it's not accessible in the slightest for the majority of people due to eye strain. If people need high-contrast, they don't just need it for one site. They need it for the majority of their computer-using experience. Which is why it's specifically built into the operating system as an accessibility option.

Building high-contrast directly into a website causes more issues than it cures. Improving accessibility would be reverting the color scheme to the previous layout's color scheme, which was relatively decent. Neither too dark nor too light, and even if it was still ugly, it didn't cause migraines. It didn't cause eye strain. It wasn't inaccessible to people with health issues.

There's too much contrast and weird font changes, it feels like I took off my glasses. Blur and harsh colors, it hurts my eyes.

Please tell me there is a way to go back to the old layout.

I'm sorry but I really don't like this change. Too much empty space and the color contrast is way too harsh

It feels like some sort of drastic switch was flipped. I have chronic migraines, so websites offering a Dark Mode are always a plus, but whatever the new update introduced is more like an ULTRA Dark Mode. Before it was this nice balance of gray; not too bright and not unbearably dark.

I was hoping that returning with some extra sleep and an aspirin on board might improve the experience (not that taking an aspirin just to utilize a website should be necessary), but the contrast issues are still too strong. Tried running the site on two other devices, and the experience is the same. I have been attempting to find a word to describe what the font appears to be doing... Swimming, perhaps? To my eyes, the dark contrast of the site is giving the font a ghastly bloom effect--the very sort of thing I use mods to get rid of when it shows up in games.

We've been speaking to the design team about the levels of contrast introduced to make some adjustments and setting contrast rules in our design system that hopefully help with the contrast issues you are having with the site.

How does this screenshot look to you? This is an example of the highest contrast we are trying at the moment (14:1), so this screenshot is testing that (which would be the maximum contrast in the UI. Although it may be lower contrast in the final design, as long as it's above 7:1. Do you think this will help with your problems?

As a user, I must say that I find the new design extremely inconvenient. And not because it's new. It takes up more space, I don't need the Collections bar, neither do I want images in my search results.

*stares at the new site layout*

Thanks I absolutely hate it. No I am serious and not just trying to be a jerk or troll here. I absolutely hate the new layout without a fraction of a doubt. Look folks, if I wanted this site to look like I was on mobile. I wouldn't be using a PC. You are a site for PC mods. Stop catering to mobile and stop disabling features like searching comments. Seriously it makes it very awkward when you just want to ask. A simple troubleshooting question for a mod. But also don't want to bog down the dev. With a thousand copies of the same question. So you do a quick search for your question. To see if it has already been asked and answered.

Now onto some real points other than just I hate it. The new design is NOT more intuative...at all. I have been using nexus for years now. This is the first time I log onto the site. And need to relearn how to do everything. Also don't give me that its a transitory thing bullshit. IF ITS NOT BROKEN DON'T FIX IT! I shouldn't have to relearn to use your site. You are a mod site. You list mods and allow them to be downloaded. Mods made by other people.  Who want their mods easy to find and download.

However a positive point I can raise. Is I rather like the new color scheme. The colors are easy on the eyes and look nice. Good job on the design team for that part. You knocked it out of the part.

I am just going to get straight to my complaints to save everyone time.

1. I do not use collections, I do not care about collections, I build my own mod list, give me an option to hide it from the game homepage, I do not want to see it and I do not want to have to scroll past it to see the new mods, the thing I am actually here for and care about.

2. There is way too much empty space on the home pages, I am not sure why we have all this wasted space now but I don't care for it.

3. I don't like the place background, its bland and uninteresting, I preferred when we had images from the game in the background.

4. I hate that every game shares the New Vegas UI colors now, it's confusing and unintuitive, go back to giving each game its own UI colors.

I have been on Nexus for over a decade now, but to New Vegas days, I have seen the site be overhauled a few times now. some better than others, but I have to say this is by far the worst overhaul of them all. I am not sure who researched this and greenlit it, but Nexus really dropped the ball on this one. I have spoken to many modders about the "New Nexus" and not one has told me they like it, it has been a mix of indifference or, primarily, outright hatred. This feels like someone messed with something that really did not need to be fixed, and after talking to many people and reading many posts, I think you would be better rolling back and re-examining what went wrong than to continue to try to hammer in this new UI.
