Alexiel26
First of all, thank you for taking the time to read me. I've returned to Skyrim (once again) after a few years (2 specifically) as it always happens to me when I need to "go home" so to speak. And there are things I remember and others I don't. Specifically, I had forgotten that the saved games accumulate, even when the character in question no longer exists (In this case, Prisoner characters to test the list of mods I was creating). In this case it was easy, I just had to delete them all and that's it. The thing is, I've already finished the list and I'm a person who tends to create multiple characters because I like RPG games and it's how I entertain myself the most. And here I have the dilemma, and it is that it will happen (like last time) that I will end up with 5gb of saves in my Documents at the slightest sign of distraction hahaha. I know that one day I had gotten a tool from a forum member that based on SSE Engine you executed and it automatically deleted the games (the oldest ones and kept X per character). I have seen something similar here (maybe it is the same but now shared with everyone on Nexus) The thing is, I don't know if it's the best system and there's actually something much better that I've completely overlooked. That's why I'm turning to the good souls of this forum for advice. I've already removed all the Autosaves (which I've always read are a pain) and unlinked the Steam Cloud. But any input will be welcome here. Thank you very much if you made it this far. I hope you walk on warm sands
greyday01
I make named saves when I reach the entrance to dungeons for the first time and name it for that location, in case I want to revisit it. The rest of the numbered saves I delete. Also I delete named saves of dungeons I found uninteresting. If you are wanting to separate saves by your character try profiles. Or if you don't want to bother with profiles when you start a new game put all the old saves in a separate folder named for your character.
7531Leonidas
I simply make a new folder directly in the ...\Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition\Saves location, and name it something like 'Archived Saves' or 'Old Saves'. Inside that folder, I make other folders with the name of the PC, and periodically move the saves into it. When I get 20-30 saves in that PC folder, I zip 'em up, and delete the originals. It is a failsafe against having a game ending glitch or corruption. When I am through with that PC, then I get rid of all but the first 2-3 saves, and the last 2-3 saves. I can move the zipped saves anywhere I have space, if needed.
Alexiel26
Thanks to both of you for your replies. I'll take note of your suggestions. I understand that if I manually change the name of the Saved in my Documents folder it will still be valid, right? Because if not, it will be a mess after a few days. Let's see how I manage. As I say, thank you very much.
greyday01
Are you on console or PC? If on PC there is a console code save followed by the name you want to give it. ~ save Bthardamz for example

However, it may break the player chain (ie, it will be saved separate from the chain of saves for a given player as noted in the main menu when you choose a player instance to play). Or maybe "orphaned" might be a better term, idk... At least that's how it worked for me under 1.5.80 and 1.5.97. Not sure yet in 1.6x, but I suspect it's the same. I'd recommend that you make sure to copy then rename. That way, if you DO find it breaks the chain, and you don't want it to, that you can still open the "properly" named file good luck. (and let us know how it went...)

Much appreciated.
