WOAHCED
I’m new to modding and computers in general, and I’m really struggling to get mods working for Kingdom Come: Deliverance on Steam using Vortex. I’ve tried a bunch of steps, but nothing’s showing up in-game, and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong. I don’t need help with one specific mod—just want to understand how to make mods work at all. Here’s where I’m at: • Game is on Steam at C:/Program Files (x86)/Steam/steamapps/common/KingdomComeDeliverance. • I’ve got Vortex installed, and it says KCD is “Managed.” • I’ve downloaded some mods from Nexus (like Unlimited Save and others), installed them in Vortex, enabled them (green toggle), and hit “Deploy Mods.” • I see a Mods folder in the game directory with stuff like Data folders and .pak files. • I’ve tried launching from Vortex’s “Play” button (Steam opens, then the game), but nothing changes in-game—like saves still need Saviour Schnapps, etc. What am I missing? Can someone walk me through the whole process step-by-step, like I’m totally new? Screenshots or a simple checklist would be amazing. I’ve been at this for days and just want to enjoy some mods! Thanks so much for any help—I really appreciate it.
Community Manager Pickysaurus Posted March 7 Community Manager Share Posted March 7 Did you check the load order tab? You may need to enable the mod there
ChemBoy1
Are you using the latest version of Vortex and the game extension? Also, can you clarify if this is KCD1 or KCD2? Assuming KCD2: Do you have the mod_order.txt file in the Mods folder? There's a button on the folder icon in the Vortex toolbar to open it directly. Crammyboy
I had the same problem. It seems to create simlinks that just don't work. Had to revert to manual installations.
ChemBoy1
Symlinks work fine with KCD2. I am using them right now. All I can say is there are 70,000 people using the extension without issue. It is likely to be an issue with the specific mods you are using. Use latest Vortex. Use latest extension version. Reinstall your mod list.
