Ba2 limit bypass for next gen

So i decide to get back into making a pack for fo4 and i never really liked the idea of "downgrading" and i remember before next gen there was buffout that fixed alot of things but one of those things was the hypothetical removal of the ba2 limit and since i'm too lazy and feel like its a lot of work to downgrade i was wondering if there is something that does that but for nextgen or am i out of luck?

You're out of luck. There is a Buffout 4 NG from another author but it doesn't have the option to bypass the limit. The author of the original Buffout said they were working on an update for their mod, though that was almost a year ago.

The only way is to unpack archives or merge some of them. There is a BA2 Merging Automation Tool - B.M.A.T. that can merge BA2s but it only works with Vortex mod manager at the moment.

Yes, the last update for the original Buffout was in 2023. The Fallout 4 NG game update was in April 2024. On 14 July 2024, the author of the orginal Buffout said they were working on a new update for their mod.

I don't know whether the info is correct, but on this mod page it's stated that the ba2 limit is 256 non-texture files. https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/79593. This mod is also an appoach for a solution. As well as the successor https://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/82082. When the info is correct it won't be that easy to hit the limit. With my 450 mods I am not even close to it. On a fresh install downgrading might still be an option. With the downgrading apps it's not to much work.

yes it is which means retextures don't Usually have a ba2 file but that is about it pretty much (except for some really old weapon mods) every mod that adds stuff includes a ba2 file its the standard pretty much and when you want to add say idk a whole mod list of guns armor and workshop items its not something you necessarily need to worry about but with how i make lists they are usually filled with ba2 files also i don't really want to go the hassle that is downgrading even if there are apps for it as 1 i like the creation club stuff it adds 2 i prefer it just because its the latest version so i just hit install and it installs within a minute and i don't have to do much for it i do the same thing with skyrim call me lazy ig

The way to bypass the .BA2 limit is with a hammer and an anvil...

Merge like mods.

Merge patches into mods that you ALWAYS intend to use.

Consolidate everything you can.

-----

But who am I kidding, when people do that they just see the glass is half full - so they add even more...

Human nature, what are you going to do?
