Add a downloaded mod filter

Recommended Posts

I know this forum is flooded with all manner of complaints about the new UI and I hate to be adding to it, but.

One feature that I am sorely missing from the old UI is that this version severely delays showing you which file you've downloaded from the mod page.

Previously, when you downloaded a single file, there would be A. an arrow allowing you to go back to the file selection (personal peeve that it's gone, but I guess that's just visual), and B. when you would go back to the file tab, the file would show a cloud symbol with a down arrow to indicate that you have now downloaded it. That would be immediate.

Presently, that symbol only appears after five whole minutes. I have timed it many many times now.

That is, frankly, an insane and incredibly inconvenient delay.

Sure, if a mod has 10-15 files, I can just focus up and try and keep track of what I have already pressed to download. If I make an error, or get distracted mid-way, I can consult my download folder, I guess. Worse comes to worse, I'll just end up downloading the same file several times. That's frustrating and a clear downgrade from how things used to be -- but still manageable.

But what about truly big mods? Mods that have upwards of 50 files? 100 files? Those pages are unusable without this.

I know everybody has their own thing they want to see restored from the old UI. This is mine.

It's not possible to have this update in real time for all users. I'm afraid 5 minutes is acceptable in terms of wait time.

I'd be curious to know what you're doing that takes you back to the same mod page in less than 5 mins?

Picky, it is probably just jarring to those of us who got used to seeing the update in real time, and maybe scanning/downloading various mods and their updates, can cause some confusion about which ones have been downloaded vs not in the current session.  I know that I have tried to re-d/l several files recently.

Downloading more than one file pertaining to one mod page (maybe, I'm picking and choosing as I don't want/need all of them), before I'll try to install them, of course.

Isn't Nexus nowadays all about "gathering small mods on one page = good, splitting everything into separate pages = bad"?

I'm not really sure the point you're making here. It can take up to 5 minutes to register a download regardless of if it was multiple files from the same page or one file from a single page.

Not sure exactly what OP is talking about, but a downloaded or previously downloaded tab would be helpful for those games where you've downloaded up to or over 100s of mods. The case specifically I'm thinking of is if you've left the game for months/years and are coming back to do a re-run and then trying to track down all your old mods that you want in that playthrough but can't remember what they are. Especially if your the type to mix and match mods for whatever reason and lost track of one you liked ages ago. Wouldn't be a priority but it would be a nice QOL thing.

Apologies if this is already somewhat implemented.

FWIW, I am getting around this by remembering to double-check the d/l notifications in Vortex when I am not sure...

Or in the browser in case of manual downloads.

That's available through your download history page. When you're on a game's page, click your account icon in the top right corner, then Download history to get a list of mods you've already downloaded for that game sometime (e.g. https://www.nexusmods.com/dragonage/users/myaccount?tab=download+history here I can see all mods I've ever downloaded for Dragon Age Origins).

Or alternatively there's that little checkmark in the corner of mod tile pictures when you're browsing mods.
