recuringwolfe Posted May 15 Posted May 15 It looks like Vortex uses a staging folder for the mods, then tries to hardlink the mods to the game files. Unfortunately, 7 days to die requires the mods to be in a folder titled "mods," which Votrex deployment does not do. The method vortex is trying to implement is not compatible to the method the game requires. I guess you could say that this is not a Vortex issue, but if Vortex put the mods into the "Mods" folder on deployment, it would work... Vortex is also targetting the App Data folder as the Game's mod folder, which is completely incorrect. So even when the deplyment mod is changed to "move," the mod files are being put in the completely wrong place. The directory needs changing to C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\7 Days To Die\Mods This was posted 2 years ago about this issue, and its never been resolved: And Here is a link to another post where someone found a workaround to Vortex having incorrect Mod Folder settings: Unfortunately the fix doesn't work, because editing the file to put the correct target location isn't permanent. Vortex undoes the correction, to put the old incorrect target location back into the file. I'm sorry but I'd say this IS a Vortex issue, without a shadow of a doubt. It's a shame that the OP got fobbed off, rather than the issue being resolved, as no 7 days to die players can use Vortex in its current state. It looks like a very simple fix as well, so this is a shame.

Ghostwalker71 Posted July 12 Posted July 12 7DTD changed where mods are stored, they no longer support using a mods folder inside the games install path and instead opted for using the appdata\roaming folder. Yes it causes several annoying issues most notably the constant admin requests for installing mods. Also Hard links work perfectly well IF the vortex staging folder and the mod folder are on the same drive. Since the game devs are forcing the use of the appdata folder for mods and user data then you must have your staging folder on the same drive. I believe symlinks do not need to be on the same drive but many games still do not support symlinks
