Soulblade9999 Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Hi All, I am trying to remove the dark shadows on my character and I am not sure what is causing it. I have tried the BSAOEnable changing to 0 in the pref.ini etc. Please can someone assist.
Karna5 Posted May 23 Posted May 23 I'm pretty sure the shadows in question are part of your skin texture you're using. You can try a different skin texture. I use BnP, but there are many options with different aesthetics. p.s. Though I also use darker nights at darkest setting. I think shadows are important, and setting the shadow quality at the highest possible is something I do in every game including Skyrim AE. p.p.s. It also looks like you've got some kind of face light going? Your character is lit up very brightly with harsh light. Oh, you're in race menu. Yeah, you should turn off that light. In keyboard and mouse it's CTRL, though i don't know what the key is for controller.
scorrp10 Posted May 23 Posted May 23 Just to give you an idea, both screenshots taken in same location, same skin texture, same ENB (Enhanced Lighting for ENB), and using Re-Engaged ENB for Obsidian weathers. Only difference is for the right screenshot, I have bSAOEnable=1 in the [Display] section in my Documents\My Games\Skyrim Special Edition\SkyrimPrefs.ini, and for the left, I have that same setting at 0. I am not sure if it is case-sensitive. Those shadows on the right, on arms and neck, are really grainy and ugly.
Soulblade9999 Posted May 24 Author Posted May 24 I have tried to set the BSAOenable thing to 0 in the apps location and on the drive location and am unable to get the shadows removed. Unless there is another setting being triggered? I have attached my display settings too. Oh yeah on the RaceMenu I had that light thing on and off to see if the shadows were present then quit the game to try and resolve the issue. SkyrimPrefs.ini
Soulblade9999 Posted May 24 Author Posted May 24 I managed to Finally resolve it MO2 had different .ini files for different profiles and I found it and adjusted the enable to 0 and it fixed it all. Thank you very much everyone :D 1
Karna5 Posted May 24 Posted May 24 I'm glad you figured out the issue, Soulblade9999. I don't use MO2 so had no clue it has different ini files for each profile. Still, I think the selected skin and/or ENB is contributing to the bad shadows. I don't use ENB, and I use BnP skin, and with vanilla lighting the skin and shadows on my character look very realistic. I took a few examples in different weathers and lighting for reference. I'm not using any facelight, and I included one night time shot as well (with moonlight for the lighting). For the images I'm also not using any image space adapters, and the graphical settings are simply vanilla Ultra.
