EzraNaamah Posted July 5 Posted July 5 For those using mods or for those who want to make the wasteland feel more apocalyptic and empty, there aren't really mods to depopulate the entire Mojave or reduce/ kill any NPCs that don't play major parts in some stories. Some factions like the Brotherhood would logically be extinct and others like the Legion or NCR become less relevant when you only do quest mods. There are also some generally annoying NPCs like the guy outside the strip gate that talks to you every save. Even the endless waves of fiends or raiders seem old and ends up making the game easier in some ways since you have seemingly infinite loot. Even if it made the main quest unplayable, It can also be used as an alternative to FPGE if some companions or characters are dead while others are in different locations. Similar to FPGE, they can play out the most likely endings and adjust factions, NPC population, and control of the Mojave based on it with a questline centered around resistance by a main character who is not the Courier has potential too.
gabrielrock19 Posted July 9 Posted July 9 I like the idea as it adds to the desolate feeling of the game, but wouldn't this make everything less challenging? EDIT: It seems you're only talking about NPCs. Hmm. Maybe a mod could be done to remove most (or every) generic NPCs from the game? Such as "NCR soldiers", "Freeside locals", "Novac Settlers" etc? Only named NPCs would be left. This could affect some lore, though. If there aren't any NCR soldiers defending McCaran, why don't the Fiends overrun it? Anyway, sounds like a simple mod to make. 1
