draconisking
You could also use the Gallery of armor mod from Omegared once it's finished, until now he has some great armors, that actually would fit in with what you want (for the windhelm and praetorian for now) http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/49827/? zigen1111
Awesome armor suggestions. Actually just downloaded the Town Guards armor retex and I think it looks good. Will be using it for my normal guards now. But I agree the Gallery of armor mod is fitting for the "Elite Troops" once it's finished. I think the armors that he is making, captures the different identities that we are talking about here. Man, wish I can see this brought to life. skypiercers
I was just trying to keep the armor vanilla, in the event that you couldn't get permission from the mod authors. Armor mods opens up a lot more possibilities for armor choice.
Thiamor
Guards should play more of a role than just protecting, getting in your way, or smarting off every time you're near. IE, perhaps random quests given onto you by the Guards. As an example, to catch a thief, to solve murders, to help a courier deliver letters to other Guards of the same general hold, and such as that. Something to give them a more real life feel. draconisking
@Thiamor There was something similar to that in the jobs for skyrim mod, you could "integrate" the cityguard and help them escort prisoners, deliver letters to other holds and some other smaller things (if I'm not mistaken), that mod was however discontinued. I suppose the ressources can be taken freely now. @Skypiercers I actually think that asking omegared for permission wouldn't be such a stupid idea, a lot of people have been asking him if he could let the new armors replace the guards while keeping their stats. He replies that it wouldn't be very easy ( I'm not sure but it would involve scripts or something) and that he wanted to finish his mod first before thinking of any of this (or something like that). So he might actually accept, all you need is a modder.
