KPedigo87 Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I've been modding Fallout 3 with this wonderful communities support...now I am about to start TES...and I am a bit confused. WTF...is an OMOD?!?! What happened to unzipping the folder and just pasting the stuff where it needs to go. And what is up with the overly elaborate and confusing instructions on installing Better Cities?! -_- my head hurts. Help please?
dezdimona Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 omod is a pre-formated file for use with OBMM (oblivion mod manager) Get the self -install version here
AncientSpaceAeon Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 OMOD usually is a mod file, can only activated by Oblivion Mod Manager. Put it in the Oblivion folder and activate it with OBMM
LHammonds Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 OMOD is a special archive that contains a pre-packaged mod for use with Oblivion Mod Manager (OBMM) to make installing and removing mods as easy as a single double-click and without the typical end-user errors such as missing textures/meshes, forgetting to enable the plugin, not using the correct version of the game, etc. With the scripting feature, mod authors can also package various options and give the end-user a dialog box to select what they want option to install (with screenshots if you like). Example: You create two texture replacers for the steel armor: One Shiny/New the other as Rusty/Old and allow the player to pick which one to install. I recommend to mod authors to create what I call OMOD-Ready archives which are the best of both types...It is a normal archive that can be extracted and installed manually or it can quickly be converted into an OMOD for use with OBMM. I was so impressed with OBMM that I created this website to help others learn how to utilize it: OBMM How-To Site LHammonds
