Jinxxed0
I was thinking of various mods I'd like to see created. Ones that would expand on the game and and such. They're mainly quests/jobs within game which the player would be rewarded for, but I wont go into details. Then I thought, the rewards wouldn't really be worth it. I mean, gaining gold to do what? Buy weapons and armor and then repair them? Sure you can have weapon and armor rewards, but what if you have the armor and weapon your character uses is based on concept, not stats? Anyway.. I'm not sure about most of you, but as a I play I tend to have a ridiculous ammount of gold on a high level characters. From the vanilla stuff, to the quests that mods brings and such. So I was think of things that our character could spend money on, but not something boring like paying house bills and suchs, but maybe something like...buying up businesses just off the top of my head because I don't really have any strong ideas for this. I'm sort of coming up with things as a I type this. For the businesses idea, maybe you can:-Buy an empty Building-Pay weekly or monthly bills-Buy a layout of the place (like in fallout 3 where you can buy a theme for your homes)-Determine what type of store it will be (sell weapons, armor, clothing, food, potions)-Hire NPCs to run it. Maybe some NPCs are better at certain things and some are well rounded, and maybe have various wages, ect.-An option to hire security (along with chances of thieves trying to rob your place)-Maybe the option to hire people to advertise (or maybe the chance to pay the black horse courier to mention you in their paper) Thats just one idea I made up just now, I'm pretty sure thats something that'd require a lot of work. But then theresideas like:-having to pay your companions or certain ones-pay a fortune teller to tell you either fake fortunes or maybe tell you about hidden treasures in various ruins if thats possible/worth bothering with)-pay a bard to sing you a song which also gives you a random status effect.-the ability to give beggars 10 coins in exchange for better tips or something  -maybe a stripclub?-maybe the ability to special order pointions that do certain things. Like request 10 water breathing potions. The merchant then charges you based on how rare the ingrediants are then asks you to return in 24 hours for those potions. -maybe have a schools system (get ready, this is going to be elaborate). With schools, maybe have fighting, magic, and some others. It'd be a series of quests liek the guilds, only it'd be more like a training type of thing with a story to go with it. But for each quest/lesson you pay and for the reward when the quest is done, you get improved skills and attributes. Each quest would follow this formula until the story of the quests takes a certain turn, like maybe you have to save the school from being shut down or something Anyway, Before I end up writting a novel, I'll stop here. If anyone is willing to work anyof these ideas, I'd be honored to help with whatever I can. I'm not modder, I'd limited to creating NPCs and willingness doing voice work. Also, for everyone, maybe you have some ideas? Everything I mentioned just came off the top of my head. Now that I look back at them, the idea of spending money seems to have spawned new system ideas in the game as well as quests.
Jinxxed0
Just thought I bump this since its only gotten 15 views and has been drowned out by other topics.
AncientSpaceAeon
I've read this topic before, but too lazy to reply it. It's a great idea for rich folks, but you really need to think where we going to get the money. So not only things to spend money on, but things that gives us money. Next those things have to be useful, example buy a shop to gain money.
Jinxxed0
Well this mod idea spawned from other ideas and exsisting quest mods that reward you gold. This idea is pretty much for making gold worth something. Right now all you can do is buy weapons, armor, homes, and rent rooms (all of which aren't needed because there are plenty of free player home mods and free weapon and armor mods). This idea is pretty much for making the various quests worth doing since you have a better reason to want gold. Like if you use the arena alive mod, you'll end up with a good bit of gold. But what will you spend it on. If you use mods chances are you have the weapons and armors that you want. And when it comes down to it, buying a house isnt that great unless you're into hardcore roleplaying by self and find it fun. As for specific mods to reward people with gold, there could be a bounty hunter job. One that never runs out. It could generate a random NPC and name and place him or her in a random area. And maybe have it were you can take bribes from certain ones, you have to kill certain ones, and other you can convince to follow you back to jail so they can serve their time. There could also be a hunters guild type of thing where they pay you extra for thingts like wolf pelts. There could be jobs that allow you to escort merchants and other travelers and pretect them from bandits. The things I mentioned in the first post could also be jobs. Like being a bard, or for female characters and maybe even male characters work at a brothol. Anyway, I think this would be fun. I dont have much skill in the CS, but If someone picked up any of the ideas, even if its just one, I'd love to help with my limited skills. Birrii
It's a nice idea, because all I can spend money on are clothes :PBut about the bills; yes, we will pay monthly/weekly bills, but there are also some lazybumps who don't like going into a cave very often etc, so.-How will you pay? (Will a guard come to you...?)-what will happen if you can't pay? Oh, and besides, about that thieves can steal your items, if you're a member of the thieves guild...There are also a lot of other problems with some of your ideas, like the shops:How will someone buy your stuff? But I see what you mean, it will be a nice opportunity for me to stop putting my money in a bank (mod) and spend money on useless weapons. It'd be great if someone would make such a mod :D
Jinxxed0
Yeah theres a lot of holes. For the shops, you'd only be the owner/supplier while NPCs run the shop. For paying them you could leave gold in a chest. There could be a min. ammount you can put in for their weekly pay. They do the min ammount of work. The more you put in the harder they work. If you dont pay at all, they quit or start stealing supplies or both. NPCs could probably go in and out the shop and through out the week sales can randomly generate or something depending how good your NPC employees are (maybe they'll be friendly if you pay them more). You could also get supplies by either finding them, paying someone to find them, go buy a big shipment, or make it (if you sell potions/food). Maybe run a shady place and sell stolen goods. As for bills, if you have an IC house, the guards will come to collect from you. You can delay paym, ents and have to pay a few extra gold maybe. And eventually be kicked out if you delay too many times. If you are out of town, the bills can pile up until you are kicked out with out guard interaction As for earning gold or running out of money, this mod probably wouldnt be for everyone, but its geared toward people who always seem to end up with a lot of money. If you're playing a hunter, you most likey wouldnt be wealthy enough to own a shop and sell jewlry. A nice thieves system would go well with this so you could hire guards if you can afford it. The higher quality your store, the more likely it could be robbed. And a stores quality could be determines by the the theme you use (some more expensive than others which would also determine how many customers you get). Theres probably a lot of things. This is starting to sound like "Oblivion Jobs Overhaul" or something, lol.
