Valonsire
Ever since i saw the mods for oblivion i wanted to buy it, but unfortunatly i was too young. Now i have just bought it and im trying to mod it. Only problem is... its not like most games where all you have to do is extract, NO! Now i have to download a bunch of other programs and know a bunch of terminology. Please I need help. I have a few problems. 1. I don't know how to make the obse work. Ive installed it, but i dont know what to do with it and how to use mods that need it. 2. OOO will not work for me!! I downloaded it and it asks me for a application to open it with and i tried using winrar but it doesnt work, then i tried using winzip and its asking me to get an "archive" or make a new one. I dont know what that means! 3. Some mod makers havn't even told me in their descriptions where to put the files. Now i know you either put it in one of two places, the Oblivion directory, or the Data directory within the oblivion directory. Is there any way to tell where to put a file?? HELP! AncientSpaceAeon
You should needed to read the "Basic Guides". Infact, Oblivion is one of the few games that have complex gameworld, and because it have such gameworld, the mods are also complex. So I tried to answer your questions. 1. I don't know how to make the obse work. Ive installed it, but i dont know what to do with it and how to use mods that need it.Use the obse launcher instead Oblivion launcher to launch the game. There, problem solved. If you enable the mods that uses obse, and you launch it with the obse launcher, you can play with the mod. 2. OOO will not work for me!! I downloaded it and it asks me for a application to open it with and i tried using winrar but it doesnt work, then i tried using winzip and its asking me to get an "archive" or make a new one. I dont know what that means!Use 7zip utility except you use the excecutable version. There, problem solved again. 3. Some mod makers havn't even told me in their descriptions where to put the files. Now i know you either put it in one of two places, the Oblivion directory, or the Data directory within the oblivion directory. Is there any way to tell where to put a file??This is long to describe. But I want to keep it simple. If it's an OMOD, it belongs to the Oblivion folder, if in the archive contains an esp, then the esp and the rest of the folders/files in the same folder/part must go in Oblivion's Data folder. Other question ? Read the guides. Hopes someone else replies. P.S : 7zip and OBMM is a must for playing mods, obse, BOSS, etc is quite secondary. Valonsire
Thank you so much AA. The thing is, i have read a ton of beginner guides, but some of the terminology is just so complex i get lost in the words. I still have questions though. 1. about the obse... i know how to launch the game from obse, but the problem im having is installing mods requiring obse. I don't know where to put them and how they work. If I just download a mod and put it in my oblivion/data folder and run obse will the mod automatically start up? or is there some sort of selection window just like the OBMM? 2. First off, my OOO file that i downloaded IS a exe file. idk if that changes anything. Also, I downloaded 7zip and i tried using that for OOO but it didnt work! Is it possible that its not working because im running 64 bit Vista??? 3. Ok that clears alot up for me thank you. But i have a question. For Ren's Beauty Pack, which files do i extract to the data folder?
AncientSpaceAeon
1. about the obse... i know how to launch the game from obse, but the problem im having is installing mods requiring obse. Then after that launch with obse launcher. If it doesn't work, use Oblivion patch 1.2, downloadable at elderscrolls.com. 2. First off, my OOO file that i downloaded IS a exe file. idk if that changes anything. Also, I downloaded 7zip and i tried using that for OOO but it didnt work! Is it possible that its not working because im running 64 bit Vista???Maybe it's a problem with vista, you want to download the OMOD ready file. 3. Ok that clears alot up for me thank you. But i have a question. For Ren's Beauty Pack, which files do i extract to the data folder?Find the folder that have these following folders/files :-Meshes-Textures-_Ren_BeautyPack_full.espAll of those needed to extracted to the Data folder. alex2avs
2. it appears that the OOO exe file is a self installer ;). DOuble click it and it should install itself or at least un-archive himself. after that copy the files as it is mentioned above
Valonsire
Firstly, I can't find a OOO omod download. They are all exe files. Could someone give me a download link? Secondly, I have 2 OOO files. One is just called OOO_1.3, which is only 1 kilobyte, and whenever i click it it says that it cant run on 64 bit Vista... The second one i have is called OOO_1.3.exe.part, which is like 400 kilobytes. I don't know whether this is relevant or I need it but i just wanted to know for sure.
