A Barber Shop?

Something I find iritating is that despite all the lovely new hairstyles one can download, one must reset their stats after using the showrace menu to edit their character's hair. I very rarely change my characters around now, as it ends up with me spending ages in console putting my skills back where they belong, just to find I have gained several levels and must sleep again and again and so on.

I would have thought this would have been done/suggested sooner, but despite my best efforts I cannot locate any mods with this functon. What I might suggest is a barber/hairstylist/mage who can alter your appearance somewhere in Cyrodiil with a shop or whatnot that one can pay and, upon paying, be given a menu similar to the showrace menu but doesnot reset skills and so on.

Apologies if this has been done/attempted before, but I did my best to search.

I would really like to have a mod like this, if it's possible. I'm sure a lot have already thought up with concepts for this type of mod since the beginning of Oblivion modding. Though, I think it is very hard to implement due to the way the game is designed. Or maybe the right modder hasn't shown up yet.

Anyway, there is a way not to lose your stats when using the showracemenu command, as a workaround for this in the meantime.

TIP: There's a good way to save without going in and out of the facegen menu. While in the facegen menu, hit the ~ key to bring up the console. Now hit ESC to bring up the save menu and the save option should be highlighted. This is especially useful for after you exit the sewers and want to change your face, because once you exit the sewers and go back into your facegen menu using "showracemenu", if you make any changes and hit accept, you lose all of your xp. -Source

Then load your saved file with the edited face to continue your gaming without losing stats! But I would still love to see a hair shop mod though.

there you go. that's barber shop we already have here

It's a good effort, but IMO that mod is not better than using the showracemenu console command.

KNOWN ISSUES

-You have to save, quit and restart Oblivion to update your hair. It's a bit of a bother, but it can't be done any other way.

-You can't change the hair length slider, just style

:whistling:
