IThreeDawgI
Fallout 3 is the first open-world game that I played. I've kept at it for years, but I'm beginning to get bored. One of the things that always bothered me about the game is the lack of combat styles. In TES you have the archer, two-handed warrior, classic sword-and-shield knight, destruction mage, alteration mage, illusion mage etc... but in Fallout 3 you really only have basic guns, energy weapons, melee/unarmed, and V.A.T.S (which I typically don't use for immersion reasons). So, are there any mods which make gameplay more diverse and distinct? Maybe ones that make perks more weapon specific or add sub-catagories to skills? I want to start Fallout 3 again but unless I can really role-play specific styles of combat I think I'll get bored too quickly. Thanks for any suggestions. tiggerdyret
Fallout Wanderers Edition (FWE) is the way to go! It makes all weapons do more damage, adds sprinting, a grenade button and bullet time to compliment vats. It also does a hell of a lot of other things like adding hunger/thirst/sleep if you want to. It us very customizable, very fun and if you want it to, very hard  Here is a great youtube series of good mods for fallout 3: Install one mod or two mods at a time and play for a bit than add some from another episode. IlConquerorIl
I second the FWE mod. Its ammunition sparsity and variety forces you to switch 'main' weapons regularly, which is great for gameplay variety. Futhermore you should consider using the RH Ironsights mod for more immersive gunbattles. FWE Combat Overhaul builds on that even more by adding recoil. These mods give a whole new feel to the game, so getting bored shouldn't be a problem. The JIP Selective Fire mod lets you switch the rate of fire on automatic weapons and adds yet another new dimension to gunbattles. If you plan on using companions, you should also check out the JIP Companion Command mod. Finally I have an extra recommendation for people on their bazillionth playthrough. It's not about combat, but you should still check it out. There is an awesome new mod which gives the Lone Wanderer a sister, who stands by him/her thoughout the game. She makes the main questline a whole lot more interesting and the mod is really well written. Edited February 6, 2014 by Il Conqueror Il
