XanAlderon
Ok heres the problem, I recently bought Fallout 3 and my computer does not connect to the internet. Trying to run Fallout 3 told me xlive was missing. So I downloaded the Windows live disabler from Fallout nexus. BUT its not working because apparently there is no FALLOUT.INI and running the game should help. But I can't run the game as I have no xlive. Is there something I can do or have I wasted my money. Skotte
I don't think you wasted your money. but I do have a question 1. Did you try to run the "FalloutLauncher.exe" once to set up the .ini file then try the >Games for Windows LIVE Disabler<?
XanAlderon
Yeah, I did everything I could with the fallout launcher, nothing happened. I'm really annoyed at this, I've tried to download the official windows xlive thingo, but it required something else to work. So I downloaded that and it also required another download, I downloaded this and that, till I reached a 255 mb download too big for me to download. I downloaded the xlive.dll file itself, but it says its not a "valid windows image"
gsmanners
Have you tried FOSE? That bypasses GfWL altogether and adds features to your scripting, as well. http://www.bethsoft.com/bgsforums/index.php?showtopic=984389
TheGrimAce
I had the same xlive.dll problem you mentioned. Here is the solution: 1. Create a blank fallout.ini into your My Games/Fallout 3 folder. You can easily do so with total commander or in command prompt if you are familiar with it.2. Run the Windows live disabler, it only checks for the existence of the file, so it will have no problem at this point.3. Delete the blank .ini file, or it will crash your game at startup.4. Run the game, it will create a default .ini file for itself.5. Play and have fun!:)
csb
You can also disable XLive in Timeslip's Fallout Mod Manager (which is a must-have IMO). Click the Tweaks button and check the box to disable xlive.dll. This obviates the need for FOSE (which can also present its own install problems in Vista and -- I suspect -- in Windows 7). Launch Fallout via FOMM. If the Fallout3.ini file doesn't exist in My Games/Fallout3, it will get created at start up by Fallout3. If you do have FOSE installed, the button at the top will read "Launch FOSE" instead of "Launch Fallout3" ... this will start FOSE, which in turn will start Fallout3.
