smartkyle
Recently me, and a couple of other guys, have decided to start our own mod for TES; Oblivion (http://www.elderscrolls.com/home/home.htm) due out this winter. We are just starting to recruit for pre-production, this means mainly concept artists and maybe a writer or 2 to help flesh out the story we already have. The mod is a total conversion and is using the TES; construction set to make a post nuclear region. Think mad max and that sort of thing and you get the idea. We have forums set up at http://nucleardawn.6.forumer.com/index.php and a website on the way. Some concepts and media already done include;http://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a12/nucleardawn/Concept%20art/TB.jpghttp://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a12/nucleardawn/Concept%20art/duneboat.jpghttp://i8.photobucket.com/albums/a12/nucleardawn/Concept%20art/TBhelm.jpg We do have more done, which you can see if you ask. Here is some background history and setting for the mod. HistoryIn middle Europe 2047 the central UNE defence AI launched all 128 nuclear missiles to targets around the world including Europe, it is believed the AI was not acting on its own accord but was compromised by a terrorist group. Whole countries were obliterated but around 50% of the world’s population remained. After the bombings nuclear winter fell and no or little crops grew. All fauna died leaving arid and dried mud beneath. At this time the world’s population was at an all time low with only around 20% surviving the poverty and perilous conditions. When the Nuclear Winter passed 8 years later Factions arose and the UNE tried to control its situation. The mod starts in the year 2057, this is the point when all the factions are fighting for the new world. Climate/EnvironmentWhen the nuclear winter passed the dust was mostly swept away by the wind and the subzero temperatures rose past what they were before the bombings. An average day is around 32 degrees C. Plants are just starting to grow again, but not many. Un-irradiated water is not that common so people usually have to make their own with humidifiers, or build water-processing plants around existing supplies. The regional wildlife is mostly killed off but some small groups still existing along with their mutated variations. Every so often ash, radiation and acid rain storms happen which is why UNE and The Brotherhood ‘prefer’ to stay in their enclosed domains. FactionsMost of the region is populated by neutral outposts, tribes, scavengers and junkers. But some large factions do exist- click the links for more info The Brotherhood - http://nucleardawn.6.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=7 UNE (United Nations of Europe) - http://nucleardawn.6.forumer.com/viewtopic.php?t=9 Again let me remind you that we are currently looking for concept artists primarily and maybe a writer, If your not interested in joining the team be sure to check out our forums and keep and eye on us. Switch
Doesn't seem like a bad idea and the concept art looks very good. ^^ Sorry if you didn't want commenting posts here, but wouldn't a nuclear winter take somewhat more than just eight years to pass? smartkyle
NP coments are welcome. I did some research into the effects of nuclear explsions etc. Nuclear winter is cause by dust and mud and other crap getting thrown into the stratosphere and causing extreme temperature loss. Its also theorised that for all that dust and crap to settle again take 6-12 years. Take note that the region and lands are still shitty just the temperatures have stableised (cant spell that wrod, lol) .
blackmage256
I really like the Idea I hope it works out and will keep my fingers crossed ... I cant wait th concept is a good one though I would change the numbers alittle instead of 50% try 15% ( those being the ones that can fend forthemselves so after teh winter which should be 10 years (just segestion ) maybe 10% left... also you may want to think about the age the pc will be...for instance a child would not likely survive the nuclear winter so the person when they started would have to be atleast 28-31 minimum but if it were placed say 18-25 years later you could have an identical environment (because of the circumstances there could be no argument about the state of civilization) with a younger pc and he/she could be part of the rebuilding of civilization (face it the first moment the nuclear wintere ends the rebuilding of of outposts and factions would not begin ) but other than insignificant numbers I like the Idea... Nofoa
Im attending college for modeling and animation and i wanted to do a TC for Oblivion as my senior project. I thought of two possible options that would interest me. The first i though of was DnD conversion, it was rpg to begin with so nothing drastic comes to mind. The other option i really would be excited about would be Shadowrun. A post apocolyptic mod would have course feature guns, guns that shoot lots of bullets. M4, Ak's, Laser weapons, that sort of thing. So while there are arrows in Oblivion we know that bullets happen to travel quite a bit faster. Bullet physics - Since the game has yet to be released I have no way of knowing that this could be supported. Furthermore if its not supported, i am not much of a programmer. I have dabbled, but not enough accomplish what i want and do it well. I would like to know what you think about that situation, because i would love doing a futuristic mod. Not to mention the shadowrun series is due for a resurgence. Noah
Peregrine
Unfortunately, we have official statements that adding new weapon categories or animations will not be possible in Oblivion. Bethesda has decided that they don't want anyone showing just how bad their weapon system is by replacing it with a better one, and modern conversions got killed as a side effect. Somehow i knew this would be the case, at least this has set in stone my fantasy option.Thank you
Ancalagon
That's too bad. At least, if I guess correctly, you'll be able to make something like Mad Max...just without cars and Tina Turner. This is sorta like a European version of Fallout, neh?
W3REW0LF
Hey genius .... you are aware the bethesda has the rights to Fallout right ? I don't mean to nay say your thing but... Bethesda is making fallout 3 ... and um ... ya know ?
the_lone_bard
The fact that Oblivion is totally crippled for modding anything TC wise and that your images are hosted on photobucket and no longer work doesnt really help your cause.
