Integrated support and separation for other languages

It may be important given these changes to re-extend a welcome to all, regardless of language. As a member of nexus I would say that we might do well to stress inclusiveness and encourage the use of diverse languages. After all languages are far more than a collection of words, they are a field of ideas.

The use of languages other than English for anything other than translation mods simply invites the kind of poor behaviour all too present on all too many internet sites. I won't pick on any particular language, but I can assure you that if we allowed regular posting in any language that ALL of the Staff here could not easily understand, that is exactly what would happen.

As a moderator on a multilingual commercial site, I can share the experience they had; they now only open a non-English forum when they have paid staff who are native speakers of that language to oversee it. That wasn't their original plan, it's what the "community" forced them to do.

In response to post #11883910. #11981410 is also a reply to the same post.

Well, you can just search for them in original language (no translation), and they will show up.

What did come to my mind when I read these news, was that perhaps not go with "only translations" but rather "include translations". This way you can find both mods that is bi-language and translated. A way you could do with the "include translation" if you want to avoid duplication is that you have it hide the original when there is a translation available, but when it's not, show the original.

The problem is that I can't see new mods if I block certain languages. Of course I can find a mod when I know the name of said mod, but what if the main language is one of the languages I blocked? Then I never see that mod unless is uploaded a translation which alert me.

In response to post #12115445.

No no, my game is in english, so say I block german mods, but what if mod's main language is german, but english version is also hosted on the same blocked page? Then I would not see that mod even tho it is in english? No in search results but on the front page in new files.

Sorry I'm probably just stupid... need to read the article again to be sure.

thanks, drakethedragon.
i didn't know that i could report that.
but what i meant was something like a hundred players tagging a mod as 'not lore-friendly' or any other tag, and their opinion won't count.
