lofgren
Thank you, good sir. And that is another option, I suppose... I think I prefer the forced dialogue, though. Later in the game, not being able to access cities could get annoying, but then again, it could be worse at lower levels as you may not have the necessary gear to survive the night... Perhaps the mod could use both optioins and let the player choose which they prefer?I'm not sure I understand why you would include both. If I understand the concept the net result of both would be identicle. No access to cities at night. (Although there should probably be a secret entrance to Riften for thieves the way there is to Whiterun for Companions.)
SpiderboyN2Jesus
Well, obviously you wouldn't use both at the same time, you'd just have the option of which you prefer. Also, I've seen someone leave Whitrun through that passage in a Let's Play, but it didn't look like it was accessible from the outisde due to it being several feet off the ground (I mean you can't exactly jump up and grab the ledge in this game)...Anyway, there is a mod that adds secret entrances to all of the major holds. As well as one that opens up the unused gate on the far side of Riften. It requires a key that can only be found in the Theives Guild HQ (this obviously doesn't conflict with any NPCs or anything since no one uses that gate, lol ;P). You could totally just waltz right in through that gate since it's left ungaurded, lol ;P. Edited July 22, 2014 by SpiderboyN2Jesus
Ceruulean
Someone could probably make a quest using the gates in aliases, and an invisible actor locks them at night or something. Although, how would the mod handle dragon attacks? Surely with a mod like "Run for Your Lives" installed, the gates need to open to allow civilians to take shelter, I think. RognvaldTheWise
I love this idea, it's almost like "WHY THE HELL WASN'T THIS DONE BEFORE?" I like the idea that that as thane you could receive the key to the city, a better reason to become thane! Keeping vampires out would be cool too. I support this idea! Tulsa299
Hmm give me the thought of thane responsibility... Damn mod fever.
DoctorKaizeld
Although, how would the mod handle dragon attacks? Surely with a mod like "Run for Your Lives" installed, the gates need to open to allow civilians to take shelter, I think.they should run inside a building not outside the hold during a dragons attack. also since locking the gate would involve editing NPC path finding the NPCs wont run outside the hold at night. SpiderboyN2Jesus
Well, what if there's a dragon attack outside the gates? Wouldn't they need to run into the city in that case...? I still think that either forced dialogue or using the same method that the Underforge uses would be the best way to go. They offer the most compatibility.Personally, I think the forced dialogue is more lore-friendly than simply not allowing the player to enter at all. And that would still allow for special priveleges as a thane. Perhaps they wouldn't even stop you after you become a thane ;P. Well, maybe not until after the first time after you become thane--I mean, it would take a bit for everyone to recognize you ;P. That way you could still technically "have the key to the city" as it were, lol ;P.And I agree that this seems like something that should have been implemented as part of the game to begin with, lol ;P! (however it ends up being done ;P) Edited July 23, 2014 by SpiderboyN2Jesus
DoctorKaizeld
well thats the thing no ones outside at night when the gates are locked except for guards, and we can give the guards 'keys' to the gate.
SpiderboyN2Jesus
Well, gaurds are supposed to attack the dragons. And you're not thinking of mod added NPCs. Makes more sense to make a mod that can work with as many mods as possible.
