Depends on whether there are extreme values that are being rounded.

 

For example, if it was 1.3 + 1.3, and we round up

everything over .5, the 1.3 + 1.3 would equal 2.6,

which we would round up to 3.

 

If you had it so it wouldn't show decimals, but would

round instead. It's perfectly accurate to say 1 + 1 = 3.

 

But only in the case that there are extreme values of 1.

 

This is something that only computer people have to really

worry about, because the computer adds in binary so the

rounding occurs later than you would think and...

 

Let's face it. No one ever needs to know this.

Also, MHM:

 

1 GB + 512 MB= ??? KB

 

1 GB = 1024 MB

1 MB = 1024 KB

 

1024 MB + 512 MB = 1536 MB = (1536 * 1024) = 1,572,864 KB

 

That's the answer. It's 1024 instead of 1000 because it's made for binary, which is base 2.

 

So the closest you can get to 1000 is 2^10, which is 1024.
