sgttraxter
Hey!So.. after installing a few mods I got a few crashes while playing the game, I then proceeded to run BOSS to see what's up. It turned out I had a few 'dirty edits' so I tried to use TES5 to fix them, this resulted in the core game+all DLC's getting Dirty Edits. What I did then was uninstalling ALL mods and uninstall the game, as well as deleting backups from Steam.I then installed the game fresh via steam, but I still get a horseload of 'dirty edits' from a CLEAN INSTALL..I have no idea what to do anymore.. so I am turning to the Nexus community for help! Here are some screenshot's;Boss:http://i.imgur.com/qiHpsXU.pngTES5http://i.imgur.com/Ud3MXCV.pnghttp://i.imgur.com/mdemvAA.pnghttp://i.imgur.com/tqfVDmn.pnghttp://i.imgur.com/aDGGdhh.pngEdit. By Uninstalling the mods I mean deactivate in the NMM, not removing them entirely from NMM.Edit2. Sorry if this is in the wrong sub-forum! Moderators feel free to move the thread if needed. Moragor69
Dirty edits have nothing to do with an unclean install, they are allways in the program, they are mistakes made by the writer of the mod/addon.To clean your master files watch this video by Gopher This Video helps you clean your mods, ist basicly the same procedure. Thanks for the video links! Tho.. BOSS have never said anything about this before, that is why I am so concerned about the whole thing. Especially since I have almost never encountered a crash before while in the game, only when launching the game and crashing before I get to the menu screen. And as stated, BOSS never complained about dirty edits of the core files up until now, could have something to do with BOSS updating its masterlist, I mean why I have not seen it before? sebigyver
I also got a question regarding this topic. I know how TES5Edit works but do I clean first the mods or first the masterfiles?

I think it's a bug in BOSS, I had the same experience. It's not possible that a mod adds dirty edits to another file, only the creation kit and maybe programs like TES5edit can do this. I also got a question regarding this topic. I know how TES5Edit works but do I clean first the mods or first the masterfiles? It shouldn't matter. But to be absolutely sure start with the master files.
