Bethesda, it is your own fault

I mean, if they just showed us some more screenshots, given us some more information instead of keeping it a mystery, people wouldn't need to make illigal movies and screenshots.

Like the movie of lockpicking, i'm not sure if they were supposed to show those. It was shown on a computer screen, and someone who was there recorded it. You could hear people around, and you saw the sides of the computer so it wasn't really made for release.

I say: More info, screenshots, perhaps a movie (CS please!!)

I have to disagree with you there mate.

There can be no justification for committing illegal acts just for the sake of a new computer game. It's the same thing as buying a DVD of a film that someone recorded while in the cinema.

Saying that it is Bethesdas fault is like saying it was somebodies fault for not sharing their wealth, therefore resulting in a mugging. Having the means to obtain something illegally and easily does not mean you have to do it.

Besides which, Bethesda are not the only ones to have fallen victim to this sort of thing...I promise you, no matter how much info they revealed to us, it would still never be enough for the die hards and the desperates.

if you say it like that, then yes, your right.

Hehe, it's a bit of a 50/50 thing IMO. As Stampede says, it's no excuse to commit illegal acts. But at the same time, I kind of agree with you Povu, they have been rather ridiculously slow when it comes to the release of media, and that has perhaps made this worse than it would have otherwise needed to be.

Still, maybe we'll see some nice, official media in the coming months towards Oblivion's release, eh? Rather than the usual 3-screenshots-every-3-weeks-if-you're-lucky PR stance we've seen thus far. ^^;

Yeah Pov, I do sympathise with you...though in some ways it's better than having a Duke Nukem Forever situation. (I think there is even a Wikipedia reference for that current comedy of errors.)

Bethesda are more than likely being very cautious (overly so perhaps) due to the size and expectations of this project.

All I want is an official release date from Bethesda themselves.

i guess they don't want to show too much, because if you do that and there is a problem with a place later, people will be dissapointed it isn't in the game anymore.

I got the feeling (watching the illigal screenshots, muwahaha) that the buildings are a bit more modern now. And taller. I think that was just one of the big cities, youl still find little ashlander like yurts or whatever those are called i think. But still, they look much better. The buildings in morrowind gave me the impression that they were all dirty.

However dirty you choose to get your hands (or buildings) on illegal screenshots and movies, make no mistake, this kind of a "grassroots buzz" is worth millions in free advertising.

Since the first time some marketing type noticed the effect of word of mouth (and thought up Amway :D ) this type of thing has been carefully calculated and manipulated to feed or starve us, Susie Consumer.

The only miscalculation made by marketing and pr zoo's is in how inventive people become in getting what they want, and to wich extreme some will go to satisfy they're hunger for information. And even then it suits the purpose of the marketing campaign - which is to get people talking about "the product".

Every single one of us has the ability to make our own choice, and carry the responsibility for that choice, wether you want to or not. And should one of the more inventive (than me) humans decide that they need to find more information to make that choice, I regard it as they're right and I will not call, nor become, the spanish inquisition. :X

I did not mean to become so serious :embarassed:, I just believe strongly in freedom of choice. If I want it for myself, I have to allow it for others.

Are the buildings not dirty because they stand in the shadow of the Red Mountain; Ald-ruhn certainly is...well...dusty and Mournhold sparkly...

All I want is the specs so I can upgrade my pc to the reccomended level or better. Whaaaah.

nonsense..people just want more..and it isnt really about the need for more but just that some people cant keep something in secret for long that millions would like to see.. with such anticipated project its enough if one people gives a recorded video to a neighbour to watch than another 2 friend gets it and one will surely cant stop his hands from releasing it on a chatroom or somewhere so it can get leaked pretty fast..

there is an alarmbell ringing, people are running around walking onto the fallen gavin carter, chairs falling, windows are replaced by walls, an uberfirewall on the computer (and around the building). No more screenshots until the game is released.
