DreadwizardDM
So I have this big red triangle with a white arrow inside of it appearing over the heads of various things. Seems to be raiders mostly or other monsters, I have alot of mods installed and have no idea how to get rid of the problem. Sadly the only thing I can think of is to uninstall EVERYTHING including the game and reinstalling everything all over again... arghh... this problem is making me crazy. Can anyone help me?? Is there a way to determine what mod is causing this, or if im simply missing a mesh or any possible way to tracj down what is causing this triangle thing?? heeeellllllpppppp..... :wallbash: :wallbash: :wallbash:
dubstyles
That is generally an issue when a texture cannot be found, and it is a red angular box with an exclamation point in it. What is happening is you have installed a mod which adds weapons and armor to NPCs and the resulting texture is not found by the game. Kill those raiders and take all their stuff, equip each one, one-by-one until you find out which item it is. Once you know the item, find out what mod added said item to your game. Make sure you have installed that mod correctly including all files. Some huge overhaul mods, like FWE, FOOK are broken into separate downloads, make sure you install all of them. Lastly make sure you are using a proper method of archive invalidation. open your fallout.ini file located in: my documents/games/fallout3 and search for binvalidateolderfiles=0 and set the value to 1 instead of 0. Make a backup of this file in case you mess anything up. Lastly make sure you have the latest version of fallout mod manager and be sure the archive invalidation in turned on. That's all the help i can give, and it's all from personal experience of having the same issues in Oblivion and Fallout 3.

Sadly I ended up totally removing the whole game and reinstalling it and the mods one by one. have not had problems as of yet (crossing fingers). I had a feeling it was from a missing mesh though but did not know how to solve it. Your plan of attacking the problem is a good one. I use FOMM, Arcive invalidation invalidated, GWFL Disabler, and FOSE... however I cannot seem to grasp FOSE very well. The only thing I do is toss the DLL's and the FOSE application file into my game folder and thats about it. I have heard that there is some other stuff I am supposed to do but havent quite learned it yet... going to do some youtubing to see if I can find a vid tutorial. :thanks:
Zaideros
I had a problem with missing files, I had FWE and FOOK installed and both add items so I killed the characters that had the bugged items, one of them was a cattle prod, and another I couldn't check, I first saw it with the nurse at the birth scene at the start of the game. Anyway, I used FO3edit to find out which mod added the prod, found it was FWE, and surprisingly found out I had had absolutely no prod.nif mesh for the thing, even though I'm sure I extracted everything the first time. So then I just re-downloaded and extracted the FWE Assets, which I did not find in my FO3 Mods folder, though I'm also sure I downloaded it, and that fixed all my problems with red angular things so far. Now if only the Primary Needs would work right.. I had a similar problem in Oblivion once, where I was missing textures. A re-extract fixed that too. eleglas
Actually its a fault of missing Nif files, the meshes, not the textures, and I doubt it will be armors cause if it was, they would just look like floating heads. Its either helmets or weapons. To be honest I got the same problem, its from things like FOOK, if you want a quick fix, go and delete all the meshes in your meshes folder, this will RESET all meshes back to vinilla (so long as you have the meshes bsa file in your data folder)
7shots
Hey, I'm having this same problem now, except it's with Sunny Smiles' dog Cheyenne. I have validated the game files with Steam, deleted some mods, revalidated tons of times, which is supposed to fix any files that are missing and reacquire them. Well none of this worked. I could really use some help -_-

Can someone please advise on this.Thanx in advance! The problem being described is a missing mesh file or one or more not properly installed. Since you have no mods installed, you have a poorly installed Fallout 3. I suggest you uninstall, not delete the game, making sure you get all the associated files. Once you have completely cleaned your computer of all traces of Fallout 3, do a complete re-install.
