FOSE help?

Okay, so I have a backup of my Fallout 3 Data folder, along with all of my DLC. What I plan to do is uninstall Fallout 3, then reinstall it. I'm going to install up to patch 1.7, then I'm going to get the FOSE V1.1 Beta. My question is this: What will happen if I get the beta? Will it mess up any mods, saves, DLC, etc? I need to get the 1.1 beta because I have the DLC, and I was just curious if it owuld mess anything up.

Also: Where/How do I install FOSE?

Im with ya on the FOSE puzzle, I must have read the FOSE webpage 4 times now and its a tough one to understand. Wish there was a few video tutorials on using FOSE ... and GECK!

As for your question, being someone who has had to uninstall / reinstall tons of times I would reccomend after you do a clean install to load in

1. FOSE (place directly into your fallout main directory..not data).. I "think" you just toss in the DLL files and the FOSE launcher and use it as a shortcut.

2. Isnatall GWFL Disabler so it moves all your DLC to your fallout3 folder.

3. Archive Invalidation Invalidated

4. FOMM

After you have that basic setup I would just try copying / pasting Meshes, Textures, Sound, and the ESM's and ESP's into the data folder and cross your fingers.

Im not really an authority on this but it seems to make sense.

Actually, I already moved all of my DLC to the data. I have ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated! but I have Vista, so it installs Fallout 3 into my Program Files folder, FOMM already has Invalidation, and I already changed the ini File, making ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated! invalidated, pardon the pun. I have a backup of my Data folder, so the whole reinstalling thing doesn't matter, and I guess all I have to do is drop FOSE into my Fallout 3 folder? What about the "rc" folder in there? I think it might actually be like "sc" or "cr" but I'm too lazy to check. I'd really perfer if someone with experience would help me with this.

I'm not sure I understand what is being told. Moving files locations is something that must be done with care since some other thing may refer them where they where. What you should NOT do is to install Fallout (as no game whatsoever) into that "Program Files" folder... Install the games at any other location far away from that "secure" program files folder and most if not all of your troubles are gone for good.

Lol, okay, thanks. Can I just make a new folder and put it on my desktop? Or should I put it in some other place, like my custom Games folder?

just change the install folder to something like C:\Games when prompted at the game setup. You can install even in another partition than that C:

What is actually important is the game is not installed at C:\Program Files\... (or it's x86 counterpart)

PS: And no, it's not about moving anything... is placing in another place from the beginning.

Alright. I think I'm gonna take care of this some other time. If only I could have someone walk me through this step by step, in person. I'm not deep-computer savvy, but at the same time I'm computer savvy. If you can give me some sort of screen shot guide, I think that would help, but if not I think I'll try to do it myself.

It's really simple... uninstall the game (if it is installed at the C:\Program Files) and install it again at any other location ... believe, you will spare yourself alot of headaches for doing it now than later.
