Switch
Not particularly. No offense but it always came across as somewhat corny to me. The acting was kinda overdone IMO. And the story never particularly appealed to me.

Darnoc
In my humble opinion, Star Trek was and is the best sci-fi franchise out there. Gene Roddenberry's vision is still the most complex, most intelligent and most thought-through sci-fi universe existing. Star Trek (at least until the end of DS9) was social-critical and thoughtful. And when they killed Star Trek with Enterprise, a world collapsed for me. Where have the times of Next Generation or Deep Space Nine gone? I must admit, though, that Enterprise was getting better at the end. A shame they had to put it off just when it started to become decent. I never liked the other sci-fi series much. To be frank, most of them have just tried to copy the success of Gene Roddenberry's Star Trek (even Roddenberry himself tried to top his original creation, without success). Babylon 5 is not bad, X-files was always interesting (although some don't like how it ended). But apart from that, niet, niet, niet. I wouldn't mind a totally new approach on things. What about a Fantasy-Series, for example? There are some really interesting Fantasy-universes out there. Take for example the Planescape-universe (my personal favorite). The Forgotten Realms or Terry Pratchett's Discworld would be great too. Or what about Tamriel? And I always said they should make a series of the Silmarillion... Star Trek had, from The Original Series onwards (the best one IMO) the best cast and storylines, and was, as you say, socio-critical, something that we don't see enough of in today's media. But Stargate has superceded it for it. It now has (I'm talking about up to series 8 and 9, I'm holding my judgement on the current series until it gets going properly) the best cast and best acting of any show I've watched, excellent scripts and well thoughtout links to mythology and the backstory. Its a shame that there's nothing out there that really challenges it now (I never got on with Andromeda either, that bloke who was in Hercules is a terrible actor). I like the idea of a mainstream fantasy show - Terry Pratchett's Discworld :D would be brilliant. His books contain all the humour AND social commentary that I think would be really effective now. As for making the Silmarillion as a TV show, nice idea :cool2:
